Mainer here, making a trip to Sugarbush in March, going to be skiing Mt Ellen on a Thursday and spending the night in Waitsfield. Went there last year for the first time and loved it even with an unfortunately timed freeze.

Want to ski somewhere else Friday, with one day and one day only what would be your pick? More ungroomed the better. Seems like MRG would be the obvious choice for me.

Go!

Are you committed to staying in Central Vermont? Are you able to drive a little bit? If you are up for a drive (1-1.5 hours or so) consider Smuggs or Burke.

i wouldnt go to bolton if i had one day to sample vt and i was already in waitsfield.

i'd go to mad river glen, maybe splurge on stowe if it was a weekday, or go up to jay.

i love bolton but the lifts are so damn slow and the vertical leaves a bit to be desired. at least at mrg the ride is slow but iconic and serves a long run.

Driving back to Portland after, can't extend into the weekend. Burke does cut the drive back by a bit.
