Is this the northeast ski forum?

A storm is coming to the northeast in 24 hours. But no one seems to care?

OK, it’s a southerly storm. But while New Jersey is well south of New England, is still part of the northeast.

Over in the trip report section, there’re only 3 trip reports! And we’re in late January, technically mid-season. I’m left wondering is anyone skiing? Or plan to ski at all?

Most of the latest postings were under individual mountain threads. I thought maybe some discussions were hiding in these? But when I open a few of them, there were just a whole lot of bitching and moaning about mountain managements!

A couple summers ago, I declared I was going to stay away till winter, as I didn’t see much interesting discussions going on. A few took it to mean I was leaving the board for good. But now that winter is here and I’m back to check on the board, it doesn’t appear there’s that much more discussion about skiing either! I wonder if I’m just as well stay away for good?

P.S.

Not seeing much going on here, I went ahead and signed up on a couple of the mountain’s facebook group. Not surprisingly, there’re also a lot of gossiping mixed in with actual skiing talks. But at least they’re not all bitching and negative vibe.

Is this a board of people who used to ski? But perhaps no longer? (Or just used to ski in the northeast?)

1) Killington 11/18/25 2) Killington 11/19 Good start to the season. No walkway needed, open top to bottom. Plenty of thin cover naturals available on North Ridge and Snowdon. Some small bumps and berms formed and made for fun skiing. Only drawback to that was having to dodge skiers on Mouse...

Yes, it does seem odd that there is not more discussion about the storm. That said, on weekends this place is pretty quiet.

No. I’m not implying that. Just that I’m rather disappointed there’s so little discussion of skiing on a ski forum.

I've seen plenty of posts about actual skiing...not sure what forum you are reading. Just because there may not be tons of official trip reports doesn't mean there aren't posts about actual skiing.

Yes, I mostly xc skis the last few years, but not exclusively. I still ski downhill. No, I didn’t ski out west for several years now.

Instead, I’ve been skiing in Japan. So, if you‘d bother to look, you would have found it easily, on the first page of the trip report sections, despite it’s from last January, due to pathetical few number of trip reports from others.

Further, I started another one on my flight back from Japan last week. But, seeing few even bother to read it from last 2 years, I abandoned it.

My Dad belongs to a group that used to go out and do “things”, like playing chess or check out restaurants. Now almost none of them get out of their house any more. But hey, they‘re still “getting along fine”, talking about how things aren’t how it used to be...
