Here (Berkshire east) for the week with the family. Dodged some rain Sunday and today was beautiful spring skiing, mid 40s and sunny. Starting to get a little thin in places, but still skiing well overall.

I don’t know how these mountains do it, it must be impossible to plan on having full staff for a busy holiday week and then you get get this weather…. The mountain has been EMPTY past two days. Are MA schools off this week? NY is.

In other news, the new quad has not been running past two days. Not sure what the issue is, but only asked staff inside. They say it was running up until the weekend. Ill ask one of the wrenches if it’s still down tomorrow.

And the old triple (cable and chairs) are gone and in one of the lots. Towers still standing.

Anyway, having a great time, merry Christmas and happy new years to all y’all, think snow!

Oh and no s’mores with LLBean this year? Bummer, kids loved it.

And which one of you had “NELSAP” personalized plates? Seen at Bousquet on Saturday

New quad was running this afternoon. Place was empty. Snowmaking trails (that they have gotten to so far) were in decent shape but bare earth everywhere else. It appears the LL Bean s’mores shack is no longer happening at any mountain … https://www.llbean.com/llb/shop/513045?page=winter-in-new-england

due to the incoming rain in the forecast on Tuesday night, we will be CLOSED on New Year's Day. This will allow for the water to drain off the hill before temperatures drop back below freezing and our grooming team can resurface the trails before reopening on Thursday.

Anyone else make the mistake of skiing Roy’s Way today ? Scratched up my skis (and knee) pretty good.

National Grid asked Berkshire East for help following the storm. They needed a snowcat to get new poles out to where they were needed.

National Grid repair the favor by assisting in tree clearing and night skiing lights powerline reconstruction on mountain.

Nice video from the owner:

Any news on offseason projects at Berkshire East ? I fear all of Schaefer’s attention is now on Burke.

I believe they removed the towers from the mountain top triple. At least I noticed on Google Earth that they did.

I keep hoping for news on that planned expansion down to the river, where they'd re-use the old lift. Love BE and want more terrain. Maybe some glades not ruined by the MTB trail banking

Decent coverage yesterday but still a bit icy. New snow will go a long way. Fun time at Crazy Horse afterwards. Nice bar with some very pretty and hard working girls there. Great bartendress. Oh to be 25 years old again.

Right where I want to be
Started out icy today then the snow kicked in. Woods could be in tomorrow. Lift line was looking “skiable” when I left. Skied the woods far east side off Mohawk - little bony

Cars parked on the access road when I arrived at Berkshire East this afternoon. Big lines at the new lift but the line for the old summit lift moved quickly. Nice of them to keep the lift going past 4:00. Pretty much everything open, not sure they got the full 24” predicted but great powdery conditions, soft bumps everywhere, I managed to get runs down Horace’s Grove, Gronks, Blizzard Island, Lift Line from the upper terminal, Avalanche (Upper Upper Comp) > Upper Comp > Comp, Jug (scraped down and pretty rocky by the time I got there).

Not sure when they added the “Avalanche” trail sign back to “Upper Upper” Comp but it was nice to see the nod to the historic name for this slope.
