Le Massif de Charlevoix ski resort announced Monday that it was forced to end its operations prematurely after its unionized employees rejected the two scenarios put forward by management to return to work.

Funny story about French train strike. We were in London and I had insisted we take the Chunnel to France. Anyways we were there when they were having one of their infamous "train strike shutdowns" and our train got canceled. They weren't all cancelled, just enough to make it a challenge. Anyways, we rebook and then that train was cancelled and our original train was back on. Mind you this is happening all within a 48 hour period prior to our travel. Anyways we get our new tickets for the original train and they are first class tickets. VERY nice seats and the meal came with real plates and silverware! Ride was fantastic, I'd do it again. Smoothest train I've ever been on. We get back from Europe and are checking the credit card statement, and low and behold they never charged us for the first class tickets! Thanks you lazy French train workers!

I was due to ski here first week of March, staying in QC. Aside from MSA, what else is worth driving to? Does Stoneham have anything worth visiting for? Or do I just do 3 days at MSA.

Agreed, that is a very nice train. I did it in the "commoner" seating, but it's a unique experience thinking you're under the ocean for a while, and then when you pop-out above ground (we did it London - Paris) you're in all this beautiful French countryside and farmland. It was also weird getting on a train with "airport" security, which is still a first and only for me.

I enjoyed my day at Stoneham. I'd do a day there. Is it the same ticket as MSA? Massif du Sud is real nice. Much more laid back and it's on Indy if you have that.

Le Relais is super close to town, very impressive Night skiing setup. I remember lots of nice bumps.

Sorry you won't make it to Le Massif this time. Crazy that they killed the rest of the season.

Looks like the announced cancellation of the season was a negotiation tactic? Anyways, the strike is over and the mountain resumes operations Saturday!
