Belleayre reported 32" this morning. Arrived at 8:30 with my son James; out on slopes 9:00.
The HSQ was down so off to lift 7; first run down Utsayantha simply amazing, fresh tracks right down to the bottom through the terrain park. So good that we did it 3 more times. Then down Yahoo, left side lines spectacular! 2 more repeats.
Off to Tomahawk and the trees. Trees were listed as closed and were roped which only served to increase traffic IMO. At least it seemed that way. Hitting lift 8 was a good idea, 7 was getting crowded and the HSQ was still down. Dreamcatcher and T Glade had the best snow of the day.
After 2 passes each we headed back to the HSQ side which was still offline but moving. So we hit Winnisook Glade which was good but seemed to have less snow than the lift 8 side. Still deep but here the snow got cut up once the HSQ was running.
Took a 30 minute lunch break at 12:30 and back out by 1:00. Everything still skied great; it got fairly crowded by 1:30 at least for a weekday. I give Belleayre a lot of credit it seemed they groomed nothing on the upper mountain. My son was toast at 2:30 and I was cooked at 3pm. Never thought about a hike over to Highmount, too much good snow at Belle.
Great day; the winter resurrection is inspiring!
