Permanent Industry Changes in the Post-COVID World

Maybe by design (and campaign fundraising reasons?)

Permanent Industry Changes in the Post-COVID World

You mean the same NBA star who back during the BLM protests and he was pro BLM tgst that the media loved, and now that he took an anti Vax stand, and while it did ramble a bit, also had some rational points, the same media wants to cancel? Time for folks to seriously learn some critical thinking...

Jet Blue is pissing me off

In the past, when I have a couple of extra days ahead of, and after my trips out West that I won't be using my ski gear, I have shipped via Fed Ex my families gear to/from our destination. You pay for it, however you also get the peace of mind that Fed Ex delivers with their reliability of...

Vail / Hunter Marketing Dept ???

Has anyone seen what the resort owned hotels at Disney and Universal are getting per night these days? You do get the privilege of paying for extra perks if you stay on property,, and they have nightly rates in that range (and often more). That's often who Vail is targeting with those prices...

Powdr is going FastPass at Copper, K, Snowbird and Bachelor

Politics rules of today 101.... Always better to create a "new" problem than actually do something that solves an actual problem! Much easier to keep raising campaign funds that way by projecting all of the "problems" to one's base! o_O :dontknow:

Permanent Industry Changes in the Post-COVID World

Probably a multitude of factors behind this. #1 let's be honest, the NHL has a lot less overall "prima donna's" than most other major sports leagues. #2 the racial make up of the majority of the NHL has far less groups who may have historical based demographical reasons to not fear vaccines #3...

Permanent Industry Changes in the Post-COVID World

A couple of observations from this past weekend up in the Mount Snow area 1) If not totally sold out, the majority of hotels that were open were very close to sold out 2) The majority of restaurants were quite busy 3) Oktoberfest at Mount Snow had a solid crowd (what I heard is that they...

Permanent Industry Changes in the Post-COVID World

Yup, it seems like the majority of schools have adopted a "do whatever it takes to keep as many students in school (safely) as many days as possible", and atleast among my 2 highschoolers, they both have the attitude of "I will do whatever I need to to be IN school every day", and that seems to...

Permanent Industry Changes in the Post-COVID World

If you're talking an elementary or the younger grades of a middle school, then that applies. If you're talking a highschool or older half of a middle school (age 12 and up) then you generally have a significant vaccination rate. You really can't make a "1 size fits all" statement about schools...

Permanent Industry Changes in the Post-COVID World

My kids highschool, roughly 1600 total student population, has switched their potential exposure protocols from (for the vaccinated) mandatory test within 3 days, to now "only if symptoms develop is testing needed" - and my son had 2 potential contacts that my wife and I were notiied of withing...

    Vail's Big Northeast Improvements- 2022-2023

I will be curious to hear if Mount Snow continues their 7:30AM AM Express program on Saturdays from early January through mid March for passholders and guests staying at The Grand Summit Hotel this season?

    VAIL SUCKS

Been at Mount Snow this weekend for Oktoberfest, 3 rounds of golf, and my son did DH mountain biking. 3k or so folks at Oktoberfest. Masks outside not required, short of some employees. Very few patrons wearing masks. Signs on doors to the buildings saying that masks are required inside the...

Permanent Industry Changes in the Post-COVID World

Since from the mRNA perspective, Moderna had a bunch more "horsepower" than Pfizer had, while I fully expect a booster of Moderna to be recommended, if by some reason it isn't, as a Moderna double jab recipient, with my 2nd jab being in late January, I will trust the science... Since it seems...

    Vail's Big Northeast Improvements- 2022-2023

For every 1 vertical foot you have to climb with your gear, a kid (or kids) in tow with their gear, that should count for about 50 vertical feet for an able bodied person with just their own gear! If you've been through it, you get it! If you've never had that experience before, well you...

    2020-21 Sunday River

Much easier to load a bunch of food and beverage supplies into a Gondola if there's a restaurant at the top of it, and it's not just transport cat accessible, than an 8 pack. Especially wiht many resorts having year round food and beverage ops at the top of their gondolas.

Permanent Industry Changes in the Post-COVID World

*Most* major stadiums tend to be in non urban areas, so the tailgating scene (both before and after) tends to be out in the parking lots for the majority of folks, rather than inside a local bar/restaurant.

    2020-21 Sunday River

And based on a Storm Skiing Journal social media post that I just read, the old Jordan HSQ will be the "new" Barker HSQ for the '22-23 season

Seems like coming soon to every Boyne property should be what Bubble 8's are known as right now! Any bets on the old Jordan HSQ being laterally moved over to replace Barker?

Major West Mtn Plans: High Speed Lift, Real Estate, More

My drive to Mount Snow is "only" 2:45 each way. About to start our 15th season of owning our condo there and did full seasonal rentals 3 of the 5 years prior to that (took a year off each time our kids were born) Average probably 20 ski weekends a season over that time, and since we've owned...
