    The "Sugarbush Thread"

My old manager would have been perfectly fine with me skipping out on work (or even just ducking out for a few hours) to ski. Not so sure my current manager would encourage that behavior though.

    High Priced Lift Tickets

Stock prices being up does not necessarily indicate that the company is healthy. It merely indicates they are good at convincing investors that the stock is worth a certain price. If their major shareholders are people not intimately familiar with skiing, then they can potentially be fooled with...

    Cannon Lover's Thread

I think if I understand right he's talking about a potential reason for not simply removing the chairs off the line with the bad grips.

I'm at about 1650' elevation. I just went outside. Looks like just a thin layer of frozen on top of the new snow that appears to have been primarily sleet (frozen layer less than 1/4"). No sign of actual freezing rain at this elevation (slightly above base level). No idea what happened higher up...

    High Priced Lift Tickets

Did you even read the quote from Vail themselves? They're up 12.5% compared to a period last year where they were down due to numerous challenges* (staffing, weather, cross-border travel restrictions that were still in place, etc). The year as a whole may have been high last year thanks to...

    High Priced Lift Tickets

Visits are up compared to what though? Sure they're up 12.5% as of early January compared to last year's early season...but there's a lot of explanations for that which have nothing to do with whether Vail is doing a good job or not: There's a lot of factors mentioned there...and a 1 year...

Right...putting up a banner or sponsoring Mikaela has 0 impact on the lift issues.

    Full-day lessons only?

Yea...I have an issue with that business model. Lessons should not be subsidizing other costs on the mountain like that. People complain a lot about high lift prices these days...but the bigger scam is the lesson rates. They're insane now at many areas (and the instructors are only getting a...

Fixed grip quad I don't see why they wouldn't unless there's some specific exemption since it is a replacement...they needed an ACT 250 permit for several other projects that were entirely on USFS land (the new patrol hut at the top of HG, the reverse traverse realignment project, etc).

    The "Sugarbush Thread"

They have the USFS permit...but I don't think they have ACT 250 even submitted yet last time I checked the database.

I would have thought the same thing...I've never met anyone from GMVS that said "I don't like Mikaela because she's from BMA." Everyone seems to view it more as "She's an amazing US skier. I want to be like her!"

    The "Sugarbush Thread"

I'm not sure lack of snow is a "bigger" issue. You can have all the snow you want and it wouldn't matter if you're still waiting on parts. Waiting on snow is outside of SB's control. Waiting on parts you'd think they have "some" degree of control over unless it was an issue that happened very...

    The "Sugarbush Thread"

There's an update on Slide Brook mentioned in the snow report this afternoon: New lift parts? Did they borrow parts from Slide Brook again for Super Bravo or something?

According to the post, she's an "Ikon Pass athlete"...so I guess Alterra sponsors her. No other connection that I know of.

That explains the tarp. Although the people I overheard discussing the lift having issues with no ETA were associated with GMVS. Time will tell when we see whether the lift runs at some point or not I guess.

It was very difficult for me to not bring that up as soon as I saw it this afternoon... There's other things as well in the report that bother me, but I'm trying to be nice!

At times I agree with this view. Then at other times my lazy side kicks in and doesn't want to hike there all season lol.

That additional 6" last night may have helped give CR enough to handle more traffic...looks like they're preparing the chair for usage...

    VAIL SUCKS

I do think there are at least a few people that forgot that based on some other comments on this forum...but the point is also valid that there's been a rather major difference in how quickly ropes are being dropped on natural terrain at one specific resort in the region. To play devil's...

Natural snow cover is still very thin. Just look at any of the open natural terrain on the main mountain that is lift accessible. CR will open once there's enough snow to support the traffic. Slide Brook...again...need more snow. Just ski some of the natural lower elevation trails and you'll...
