Vagabond faces southeast and is a natural trail. It goes fast. Not the place to judge coverage.

Lot of streams/water bars at Killington that typically freeze in December still have open water in them. Definitely a warm winter.

    Bubble lift opinions

I like that they automatically close on the ride down. Donβ€˜t have to sit in a rainy puddle on the ride up. Goretex has its limits. Helps keep the lift running in high winds too. The rest is just posing.

Newpy, I think that's a terrific plan that addresses so many of the problems. I wonder if rather than resurrecting Horn, the easy route down could be recut to looker's right as part of the interconnect, joining back in at the top of Swirl.

I was disappointed when they moved the Poma there and didn’t run it to the top. Missed opportunity.

Even if you hate Killington, and rven if you don’t care about the World Cup, you should still root for Killington to pull it off because it’s good for northeast skiing, the much maligned red headed step child of North American skiing.

Snow Pod for Cheaper Machine-made Snow

    Seems sketchy... What's the cost of raising 200,000 gallons of water (enough for 1 acre foot of snow) 1000 feet? That's where the savings comes from. 200000 gallons x 8.4 lbs/gallon x 1000 feet = 1,680,000,000 foot-lbs of work 1,680,000,000 foot-lbs x 1 kilowatt-hr/2.655e+6 foot-lb = 633...

I believe they’ve actually said 100 hours of cold temps are required, but they do need time to prep the course. Way too early to panic. Instead, panic about whether the new KBL will be ready.

A few years ago theyβ€˜d have multiple types of guns ready to go on north ridge: K3000s for the really marginal conditions, Ratnik stands when it dipped colder, and something else (I can’t remember) if it got real cold. Snow Logics maybe? Tending to lean far heavier on the K3000s now. I suspect...

They haven’t run South Ridge yet this season, so I don’t know if we’ll see it this weekend all, everything else is pretty normal for a Friday.

Nominal Killington Midweek Schedule: North Ridge: Tuesday Thursday, Friday Canyon: Monday Wednesday Friday South Rudge: Friday? Wedkends and Holidays they run everything. They ran the Needles chair daily last year due to the pandemic, and have continued to do that this year. However, that may...

Last years of ASC, Killington barely made it to May. No money. When POWDR bought it in Feb, 2007, Nyberg tried to run it like a western resort, and closed early. Didn't sit well with a lot of people. It wasn't until September of 2012 when Mike Solimano took over that things changed, but it took...

Canyon Quad didn't run Monday which midwinter runs a MWF schedule, so it may be done for midweek. Escapade (a natural) was skiable Sunday, but getting a bit thin now. Even when K shuts down to just Superstar, the hike up Launch Pad to Cascade (which still is edge to edge), is short and pleasant...

No snow making at Vail Resort ski resorts

I suspect Vail is still trying to figure out the Eastern Market. POWDR came in to Killington and tried to run it like their western resorts and failed miserably. Went back to what had worked in the past, a bit old school, and haven't looked back. It will likely take Vail a while, too.

    Killington Questions

Done for this year. It's not all that bad, and I'm neither a spring chicken, nor a prime physical specimen. I'd say Powerline, but it gets tracked out pretty quick. I'll add Stitchline and Flume to the mix, but they're not the narrowest. Just examples of what you're looking for. Right side of...

Except for Killington-very weak effort to get open

Feel bad for the Mt Snow peeps. Previous years they'd make top notch early season effort. Yesterday from Killington Peak it was clear there was a lot more snow on the north face of Stratton than Mt Snow. I get that its a business, but Vail may need to learn the ways of the locals. POWDR had to...

    Tenney Mountain

Nice to see it un-NELSAP'd. Skied it a bunch in the early 70s. The owner was Sam Hall (I do miss the days when ski areas were owned by an actual person), as I recall he was a bit of a cantankerous fellow. There was no snow making, and he advertised that their grooming was so good, the snow would...

Guns are set up on Rime!

Star Wars meme. A joke, nothing more, making fun of the whole hate on Killington thing, and not intended to be aimed at you specifically. Still, I'm flattered you think I'm worth hating. Seems like work, so I won't bother. Perhaps you should save those special feelings for someone who feels the...

Yes, let the hate flow through you!!! Seriously, they've done a ridiculously good job on snow making. "Temperatures? We don' need no stinkin' temperatures".
