Lol, just checked the trail report for tomorrow- Bypass says “icy - use caution”. Based on the rosey outlook the mountain report generally has, wondering exactly how bad a trail has to be for it to actually use the word icy.

Last weekend some woods were doable but eh - definitely rock ski territory still.

    Vote for Utah ski bus

I don't think any of the rental car places even offer the option of getting something effective snow tires - the best you can get is M+S which may (or may not) meet the minimum legal requirements but are definitely not good enough. I don't understand why in areas with traction laws rental car...

You can't cut over to Gremlin above Peabody, that opening is roped off now - you have to go all the way down and take the left before the drop off to Eagle Cliff.

Anybody know why they built the park on skiers left of lower cannon instead of skiers right like in prior years? Doesn't make much sense to me with the amount of traffic headed left to get back to Peabody...

Not sure if anybody else saw -- they first announced on the mountain report Sunday I think -- but Cannonball pub is shut down for a week, they had two staff positives.

Even given that increase in season pass sales, there are less people on the mountain due to the limit in day ticket sales - you can tell just from the parking lots. I haven’t seen the overflow lot close to full. Lines are all a result of lack of tram and reduced uphill capacity as a result of...

Lines were better today than Saturday or Sunday, except for Cannonball. Lines have been bad by Cannon standards but still not horrible - 15ish minutes at worst. Cannonball has been tougher since it’s the only way to the top now, and the lift location also makes the lines a bit of a mess. I’ve...

    Singles Line

No singles lines at Cannon and they don't want you linking up either - "arrive together, ride together". The lines were definitely bad (by Cannon standards) over the holiday week, and yeah there's no tram so other lifts will be more crowded, but there's also reduced capacity. I think the lack...

    teaching kids to ski.

Which reminds me, your kid is, at some point, going to say "You go first this time!" or you will seem them doing fine and be tempted to pick up some speed and ski passed them and let them catch up - DO NOT DO IT. The moment you do, they will fall down and be unable or refuse to get up and you...

    teaching kids to ski.

Lol this reminds me I was skiing with my kid when he was 4 or 5 and, so I could watch him a bit, I started skiing switch and he decided "hey, that looks a lot more fun than skiing facing frontwards" and promptly yard saled upon making his own attempt to do it.

Opening day pushed back to at least 12/11...even that seems optimistic given today's weather and this week's forecast.

    teaching kids to ski.

A lot of this is very dependent on your personality and the personality of the kid. With that said, here's my two cents: For the four year old, pretty simple -- in my experience kids aren't going to retain that much in the way of skills at that age anyways, so it's more about generating...

“Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders said Wednesday that two neighboring states would be taken out of the "low risk" category.” So two of VT, ME, NH are about to be added. VT is still to low, it’s going to be NH and ME.
