    What is your favorite chairlift?

I've always liked Madonna I at Smuggs. Has good vert, the visuals going over the 3 cliff sections are fun, and despite all the bitching it's really not THAT long. Ride is just as tolerable as the MRG single.

Platty would be awesome but doubt that it'll be them based on past comments. Fingers crossed though.

I didn't know there were any hills that big in Iowa. Lol

World Cup officially back at Killington this November!

Agreed. Much more of a "glacier" with the world cup surface buried in there but definitely better spring snow this year. Definitely worth it though. Haven't been to the actual event but have watched every year on TV and the place really shines. Not to mention how awesome the crowds look and sound.

Anyone want a bonus day at Stratton? I'd hit it.

Looks like Friday and Saturday will bring some humidity as well which will further quicken the melting, especially at night. Now I'm on the pessimistic crew, but Killington is known for making magic happen so I would never rule it out.

The other thing that I didn't think of until now is that there was no race this year. That snow was basically an impenetrable base (although the skiing was definitely better this year as far as softness goes). That's one reason it's disappearing quicker than expected.

They're definitely plannjng on one more weekend. If not then they wouldve spread the pile at the top. The Headwall was as ugly as I've ever seen it today, including June 2 years ago. They wouldn't let that snow in the stockpile sit there if there was a chance next weekend wasn't happening. Skis...

Got in my last runs of the season today. Went up late expecting to ski the 1:30-5 shift, but the weather had other ideas. Lift went down at 3:30 for lightning so I called it quits. Think it did reopen after I left. Trail was mostly decent. They still have a good sized whale at the top to give...

The most dreaded thread of the year.... The Closing thread......

Planning on heading up next Sunday. Still looks decent on the webcam and this week will be cool, but who knows what it will look like on Memorial Day in 3 weeks. Unlikely is probably a good word but if it stays cool all month then never say never.

    2021-22 Season Passes

Limited amount of Wachusett passes went on sale today and created a total bum rush to the site, so good luck getting one if you want one. If they ever restore night skiing hours to what they used to be, I'd consider getting a pass again but raising prices and reducing hours doesn't sit well...

    Scariest peak

I faced the opposite direction when I went into it. Easier to turn in the direction of the curve, plus less trouble if you need to bail to the left a bit.

    Scariest peak

I think all the injuries and notoriety are more because way too many gapers have easy access as it's about 500 feet from the team station and easy to get to. But nothing about it is really death defying...if you fall you tumble down in usually deep powder and have only a small chance of hitting...

Vermont Skier Visits Down Significantly Due to COVID-19

I always wear mine but one time I was driving from Wal-Mart to the 99 in Littleton and didn't put it on and the chime started going off. I yelled "Shut up I'm in New Hampshire!" but it didn't listen to me.

    Scariest peak

Stopped reading after they put Corbets at the top. Maybe I need to go to Jackson a 4th time, but there has never been been a 1 foot drop into Corbets when I'm there, nevermind 20. You can launch in if you want, but as far as the goat path goes, once you get over the notoriety it's a pretty...

    Scariest peak

One of my rides up Mineral Basin on a real low vis day, someone launched themselves off a curve on Lupine Loop onto a flat area below and was getting their leg splinted by ski patrol. I guess low vis can get you in trouble at almost any western resort when you get to the tree line. But yeah...

I can confidently say that Gore and Whiteface are worth a trip from MA, even if theyre a couple hours further than some of the closer good stuff. Gore you can hit on the way up or back. And then why would you want to stay slopeside at Whiteface when you can stay in Lake F*cking Placid? Truly one...
