I started my daughter with poles at 5 years old right from the start. I figured she did know how to ski at all so give her the poles now so she would not have to learn to use the poles after she has started to learn without them.

Take it from someone who lives in S.E. Michigan and you have to drive 60 miles just to ski 300' vert. and an avarge trail lenght of 1400'-1600' long. There are lots of things resorts in the east do well.

I do most of the time but here in lower Michigan with the short rus and a high speed quad you could see the same lift operator 20 or more times in a hour.

I live 30 miles west of Detroit and nothing is very impressive around here but the is one place called Mt holly wich is 60 miles north of Detroit that is not very big (350' vert) but they do have a HSQ it takes around 45sec. to 1 min to get to the top. We may not have big ski hills but Cedar...
