Earning turns at Cannon after they close

I've done it a bunch. I typically park between the tram and zoomer lift. Usually a bunch of folks at top of profile doing the same. Take a run down Profile, hike back up and ski down upper canyon. Most years able to ski top to bottom continuously into first weekend of May.

    Fernie/Kicking Horse/Nakiska/Kimberly?

KH has some great steeps and I wouldn't go if I was an intermediate skier looking for cruisers. You essentially ski one lift - a gondola - that runs top to bottom. It's definitely an experts mountain with some great terrain. Fernie is much more a resort. Definitely more lifts and more options...

    2017-2018 Season Passes

I'm contemplating Ragged, Peak's Ranger or Max Pass...The Western resort option with the Max Pass is attractive plus the NE variety. I love skiing Wildcat but from metrowest Boston, it's just a killer for a day trip.

    2017-2018 Season Passes

WaWa is making what we can assume to be profit maximizing pricing decisions. I can't blame them. Their product is sound and they are investing in their operation continuously. What seems to get lost in all these discussions about length of season, snowmaking, ticket/pass pricing, et cetera is...

    Cannon Lover's Thread

Some help please, tomorrow, Friday, planning on heading to Cannon. NWS forecast at elevation... Very windy, with a west wind 35 to 45 mph, with gusts as high as 55 mph. Does this portend windholds?? Don't much care about Tram but planning on skiing Profile lift primarily.

    Wildcat Mountain 2016-2017 season thread

I didn't ski at Wildcat last year but hiked down from summit over summit. I was really impressed by all the snowmaking improvements made in past 20 months. Good luck to them.

    King of Spring

a few minutes to spare and thought to look at the situation as of this morning's reports, acreage in ()... Sugarloaf (168); Killington (35); Sugarbush (96); Sunday River (115) with Jay and Stowe both open but not reporting acreage.

    King of Spring

Killington with SuperStar will be last to close. Sugarloaf will offer the most terrain until they decide or are forced (base area melts out) to close. Depends on definition. Have always felt Wildcat could be last to close with a 2,000' vertical run every year and their 2,000' base if they wanted...

    Cold wet feet!

I might be completely off base here but I wear the thinnest socks possible and never have a cold foot problem. My theory is heavier socks, feet perspire, perspiration on skin cools, makes feet cold.

    Gunstock 1/1/2016

I was over there for a late XC ski, was pretty surprised to find the nordic center even open. conditions were pretty poor but it was good to ski for a couple of hours. there were a good # of cars coming off the mountain and the lights were on when I left. It is amazing how wet and un-frozen the...

12/5/2015 - Gunstock (First Day for the little guy)

get him out of that snowplow quick...have him point in the direction he wants to ski and he'll naturally turn. teach him to jump on his skis into the turn and along with watching/emulating you, he'll be making parallel turns before end of December. great day to get a youngsta out on hill. have fun.

    Hermitage club

Really haven't read this thread but it got me thinking about this thing. Haystack has quicker access to home - I'm assuming this is a fairfield - westchester county/NYC type of clientele. Looks like there is a golf club. You can let your kids loose - don't need to worry, work a bit on...

    Hermitage club

the Jordanelle Gondola doesn't really service any ski terrain but just the private homes that have been developed along that side of resort. drjeff - how much of the terrain do you think is covered (or planned to be) by snowmaking and is there enough H2O to support near full coverage in a lean...

    Tucks on Sunday?

from the avalanche center...sounds crappy ...Tonight, temperatures will drop as the next cold front arrives, bringing 2-4” of snow on Saturday. Northwest winds with the potential for 2-6” (5-15 cm) total of snow by the end of the storm Saturday afternoon will change things quite a bit. After the...

    Stowe Tuesday 2/17

Your photo doesn't do justice to all the stumps and brush usually sticking out from the ice on upper goat. Typically ski in Spring and bumped up alot more, great trail.
