How is this Sugarbush skiing compared to Killington? Planning on Sugarbush Friday and Monday but my place is in Killington. Is Castlerock ok, Paradise area? Thanks!

    Ski Resort Response to COVID-19

My wife and I work from home in Killington. Seems to us that most/all people that visit do the masking and are very careful not to come into 6 ft of anyone. Ski shops have stocked up. Restaurants do a good job of keeping people apart. I think we need Winter to be somewhat normal maybe 50% to...

    Skiing the moguls

Looking 3 bumps ahead and not at the current or next bump helps a ton.

    Wst 3/23-24

Normal 5.5 hour drive to K took 5.5 hours. Hope everyone made it to their destination safely. The next few days should be a very fun end of winter skiing in the NE. Ready for spring skiing starting next weekend :)

    WST: 3/16-17.....Mid-March Madness....

I wouldn't have paid but Killington groomers were fine today for pass holders. Skied Bear and Needles from 11-3 and it was mostly granular sugar on the sides and sometimes nice piles or corned up bump lines further towards the middle. After 4 seasons of Killington, I can kind of sense where...

Weekend Speculation Thread - The Presidential Edition! 2/16-17

Killington 100% open. Skied laps on North Ridge, many on South Ridge, Fiddle and Thimble > Chunnel and Needles under the power lines. Some Bear mtn woods also. Everything skied well (South Ridge, Bear and Needles area especially) except an early morning run down Northstar which was...

    Current Quiver......

Groomer only days - 2016 Head i.Supershape Speed 66mm Every other day - 2014 Blizzard Peacemaker 104mm I feel like I need something in the middle. I used to have Atomic Blackeye Ti 82mm but they delaminated underfoot on 1 ski a few years ago. Maybe not though because I really get a kick out...

Royal Flush with rocks poking through everywhere and thin cover is still some good shit though. :)

Weekend Speculation Thread - The Presidential Edition! 2/16-17

I'm seeing about 4mm of rain after maybe an inch of snow for Killington and southern VT. It's not catastrophic. A week ago I was thinking of not even bothering with this weekend.

    Suggestions for new tree skiers

Pico has great low angle trees and operates only Thursday - Sunday; so there may still be fresh lines.

    Superstar stockpiles!

I was there over the weekend. They're looking pretty committed to Spring skiing. The whales on superstar and glacier going at the top of ss were impressive. edit: had a great time despite the crap winter. plenty of fresh snow on the sides of trails and some fun bumps.

Fatal Crash - Route 100 in Killington

Very sad to hear. I hate driving that section in bad conditions. I take it slow AF (Subaru, snows) even when it's just flurries and look like a dork with my PA plates and little family and crap but it's not a place to mess around in bad conditions. People, please be safe out there. Really...

More bad news from the weekend (skier death)

It's a very mellow traverse off Canyon/Glades chairs heading towards Cascade and Escapade. Sad news for sure.

    Tuesday March 10th - Sunday March 15th

I didn't think so at all. Saturday was light freezing rain for some of the day and I spent it in the North Ridge/Canyon area. Nice turns on groomed steeps. Woods were closed though and rightfully so. Sunday was frozen from the overnight chill but it started snowing early and after some laps...

What is you lift ticket strategy?

Next year doing Killington season passes and kids in seasonal programs. Hampton Inn for HHonors points and some free days. I'm not rich but I ain't broke. We (Me, wife, boys 10 & 7) just like to ski and this gives a lot of bang for the buck. Allows me and my wife a trip to Jackson for Steep...

    Creative snow reports

Was that the Sunday after New Year's? I was there! Skiing in the rain on on the Jet lift wasn't so bad. I actually had a pretty fun time considering. That being said, if I wasn't already committed and 8 hours from home, I would not have bought a ticket that day :) Doing Killington this...

2014-2015 Winter Forecast (here we go)

7-10 inches at Stowe most of it overnight according to their website. I left yesterday after skiing there at around 3:30. Hit multiple bands of snow from Waterbury to White River Junction going south on 89, some pretty heavy. Didn't expect that. Doh, doh, doh doh!!!!! I should have turned...

Stowe, Saturday, March 7th, 2015 Groomers, woods and a spectacular crash

Damn cool that you're okay! I've been at Stowe the past 2 days. I thought I saw you on Goat with 2 others early this afternoon. Just judging by the avitar pic. I had a rough go at that trail today on brand new skis, my wife and kid fared much better :) Anyway, glad you and your friend are...
