    Okemo 11/17

Just so you know, they don't open Jackson Gore til mid December. It's on forest service land, and they have to wait for the bears to bed down for the winter. Seriously. But if we're lucky, maybe the Solitude area will be open.

    Ascutney Mountain Sold!

I'd love if they re-opened. They're only about 20 minutes from me, and it's been so sad to drive or bike by there and see it all closed up. It'd be great to have another mountain to play on.

Okemo... The Good, The Bad. What to hit, What to Missss. Lifts to hit, Trees to Run

Deadheadskier has a lot of great tips. I ski there all the time, so I know. If you really like bumps, you don't want to miss Big Bang, Rolling Thunder, and White Lightning in the Jackson Gore area. These are natural snow trails that are finally open, and they bump up quite nicely. A lot of...

    Burke's Glades?

What do you mean "on the other side?" Can you tell me where this would be? And from_the_NEK, if you get out to ski there tomorrow, could you please report back and let us know how the glades are doing? I'd love to hear! Thanks!

    Burke's Glades?

I'm planning a trip to Burke and I've never been there when the glades were open. I hear they are now. Can anyone tell me how coverage is? And can anyone give me some recommendations or insight? Which ones shouldn't I miss? Which ones aren't too tight? Thanks!

Killington = WIN. 10" in 24 hour, K-1 might open tomorrow!

I was there today, too, and yes, there was a TON of snow, but BMac is right -- it was very heavy and got tracked out rather quickly. Thought you all might enjoy some pix:

    1/12 Storm Discussion Thread

6 to 8 inches at Okemo today. Horribly windy at the top, but once you got out of the wind, some terrific skiing. Especially since it was pretty empty.

VPR broadcast on Vermont Ski Industry

Calm down there, fella. , I just thought people might be interested in hearing a story about the Vermont ski industry. That's all. Didn't mean to start a whole thing about NPR or VPR or anything. Sheesh.

VPR broadcast on Vermont Ski Industry

There was an interesting program today about the state of the Vermont ski industry on Vermont Public Radio's Vermont Edition. They spoke with the president of the Vermont Ski Association and officials from Mad River Glen and Mount Snow. You can listen to it online if you go here.

Glad you made it out of there, Bill. I can't think of any way you could have done it better. Can anyone comment on what you're supposed to do in this sort of situation?

Kton -- What a difference a couple weeks make?

They JUST repaired my road today. So I can get out. Finally. Things are progressing, but there's a lot of work to be done. The highway guys are working 24/7 and deserve an awful lot of credit. The roads they're repairing won't be in great shape for a long time, but at least we might be able to...

Kton -- What a difference a couple weeks make?

Work has been going like gangbusters to repair the damage done by Irene. Here's a pic of Route 4 at River Road near Killington on August 29 beside one that shows how it looks today. Killington posted it on Facebook: Amazing! Let's hear it for the highway crews!
