Watched a livestream of the last Yotes game being projected at a well-attended watch party in a nearby parking lot and while I feel horrible for the fans it honestly had to be done. Even if they won the Phoenix auction it would mean at least 3 more seasons in a 4,600-seat college arena which was...

Looks like this could be the end of the Arizona Coyotes. They still have a chance to bid on land for a new arena in Phoenix although looks like that's it for them if they don't win. Recent developments indicate they might not last till the auction. Wanted to see them work it out somehow, still...

I believe the other building right next to the Dostal's main building was just an annex and part of the hotel. Pretty sure they stopped operating as a public hotel in the 2000s, afterward they became employee housing for Stratton and the buildings have been abandoned for at least a decade. My...

How about this for the last day of the season? Got sticky towards the end of the day (Sat) but can't ask for more in April, especially after the season we'd been having until 2 weeks ago. Awesome skiing no matter if it was bumps, groomers, fresh-ish powder on Pitch Black/Black Magic, etc...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

The 8"-16" on their website after the mixed precip is a pretty big range in terms of terrain openings. If it's on the bigger side considering it's their last weekend (and when else are you skiing Red Line in April these days??) I'd expect crowds - not in the lift line sense with both lifts...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

The best way to eliminate the "only for powder days" narrative surrounding Magic is snowmaking capacity and timely early-season snowmaking. I'll give them a pass this year because they had the permitting issues with the pond in November and a warm December, but in the future having at least...

Lot C in practice would be easy enough to trim out. It's not an open field like B. Just taking out the trees down the middle could add some more spaces. How many are squeezing into the Dostal's lot these days? Someone's got to save that place.

How would you like to have been this guy in Lot A at 11 PM Saturday night?

    The NEW Magic Mountain

Might be a taboo question but if you can run Red, Green and Black on weekends from Christmas to St. Patrick’s with no lines and you have the staff there to do it, would it make sense to raise the ticket limit slightly? Wasn’t there on Sunday so I’m not sure what the trail crowding got to. As...

Wish I was there today. Saturday didn't have the great weather but that was the best powder skiing I've done in a while. Hope this stuff sticks around for this coming weekend. Nice to hear they ran Red, I was under the impression that perhaps staffing issues limited the lift lineup to just...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

If only we had a second lift that went to the summit so we can keep skiing 100% of Magic's vertical this season...oh wait! This feels luxurious.

More just a bladeful or two, although the situation's certainly changed since I wrote that, Looks like the only two spots that should need that are the upper half of Hocus Pocus and the Wizard runout. Don't think there will be much melting this week given comparatively low temps compared to how...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

Good skiing yesterday. Very mushy consistency, everything remotely steep got bumps by the end of the day. Talisman bumps are very big, almost trench-like. Tiring but fun with a good set of legs. Runout baaaaaarely had enough snow to make the connection across. Temps, at least the lows, look to...

    The NEW Magic Mountain

If precipitation on the liquid side is coming their way this week, which it seems like it is, it would be wise to pack down this new snow on most, if not any trail they feel can survive it. If the natural snow that fell on grass not along main routes won't survive the coming rain, and this could...

I would concur that anything merging into LMC will require some slightly uphill cross-country skiing to get over to Black, especially in these conditions. Somewhat applies to Showoff too, I noticed a lot of that traffic shifted to Hocus Pocus last weekend.

    The NEW Magic Mountain

Shame we can't at least get one nice day of spring skiing in. Remember skiing in T-shirts on a warm sunny day with fun spring snow? Was a great way to bid farewell to the season. Last couple of seasons, presumably including this one, we're going out with 40 degrees, clouds and rain. Pretty...
