    Cell Phone Service at Hunter?????

I have had no issues with T Mobile service while skiing at Hunter. The signal is good on the mountain. Sent from my SM-G892U using Tapatalk

    Hunter 2/28

Thanks for the report! I was worried that everything would be complete ice after Friday. I'll be in the Catskills the next 3 days, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed too!

Silly things people say about skiers and boarders

Here is an actual conversation I had with someone one time: Him: So let me get this straight. You strap yourself to a piece of wood, and then you go down a big hill covered in snow? Me: Well, it's not actually just wood. Only the core is wood, but essentially, you got the idea. Him: WTF...

Skis stolen this weekend....any tips on how to handle?

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll definitely check with the mountain throughout the week. We were thinking that someone may have taken them by accident, but they never turned up the next day either. I thought the same thing about why anyone would steal those skis since they are so old. We...

Skis stolen this weekend....any tips on how to handle?

My friends and I were up at Hunter Mountain this past weekend. Though we had a fun time overall, the weekend was marred by someone stealing my buddy's skis. We filed a report with the mountain, but it doesn't seem like that is going to lead to anything other than just keeping a record. Does...

    Catskills on Thanksgiving weekend

I would think Belleayre would have the least coverage as a guess. If you tend to stick to blue trails, go with Windham. They will have have top to bottom, and it'll likely be a less crowded than Belt @ Hunter. If you are an intermediate that also enjoys black diamonds, then go to Hunter.

    Hunter opening information! **SATURDAY**

I'm truly impressed by the amount of terrain being opened by Hunter this year for opening day! It's such an unexpected and nice surprise :)

Any reason for no multiple Plan Passes..?

All of those are owned by the same company though (referring to the Vail pass). We don't really have any major company that owns as many resorts here in the east anymore. Back in the day we had ASC, and back there was a pass that worked at all of their mountains. I think the difficulty is...

    You’re In The Minority

OK, I'll probably get flamed for this one, but I'll throw it out there. Snowboarding is more fun that skiing. I say that as someone who has always enjoyed skiing and still has nothing against it. That said, I think it's more fun to be on a board.

Looking for recommendation for ski resort near NYC

One more note, you can easily combine Okemo and Killington into the same trip for some more variety. They are only about 30 minutes apart from each other, and between those two places, there is plenty of terrain to keep your group busy for a long weekend.

Looking for recommendation for ski resort near NYC

If most of the group is not experts, consider Okemo if you don't want to fly or drive too far. It has tons of groomed terrain and usually has good coverage by January. It's about 4.5 hours from NYC. Another one that is good for a large group like yours might be Stratton. It's similar to...

    Will Hunter start?

From what I can see, the weather is certainly setting up well for them to open for 11/22! It should be nice and cold next week :)

    Stratton Lift Ticket Giveaway

Got one! Thanks for the heads up. That was much better for me than last year. Last year I didn't win until my 15th try or so.

Do you ever drive South to ski?

Once every year or two, I drive south to go to Blue Mountain, but that's about it. I pretty much go up north 99% of the time.

Ski Noob in NYC. Any advice?

Can you define "budget friendly" for us? I ask this because I usually do not find any "nice resort type place with pools and such" budget friendly. That said Hunter and Windham are the two that come to mind closer to NYC. Hunter has the Kaatskill Mtn Club with pool and hot tubs. I forget the...

    Belleayre: Not until after Thanksgiving?

Given the state budget, I don't think Belleayre would open early even if serious winter weather started right now and stayed all the way through their projected opening date.
