    Powder Mountain beta.

Thanks for all the replies, folks. Def gonna put PowMow on my list. Even if those new owners sound gross AF.

    Powder Mountain beta.

First off, apologies as I'm dumping this in the NE thread. Alas, I cannot find any place for it to fit, otherwise. Does anyone have experience with Powder Mountain? The idea that it is far enough away from the Wasatch front to keep the crowds minimal and the daily ticket sales cap make it...

    VAIL SUCKS

+1 regarding Blue Knob. The terrain is funky. Totally uncrowded midweek. When the snow is good, it is GOOD. When bad, it's absolutely horrible. Like worst of the East Coast worst ice sheet. I once hit it back in ~97 or so with 2+ foot of blower. It was insane. As was the access road. If during...

    Mansfield Stake

Maybe it is simply some super duper get winter going wishful thinking on my part?

    Mansfield Stake

Is anyone else struggling to find good current data on the Mansfield stake? I swear that there was a web page that worked for many years. Now, I cannot locate it. Never had it bookmarked. Just google searched. There are a handful of pages showing it, but, none appear like the previous that I...

    Mammoth

I've done Mammoth using Vegas as my jumping off point. The drive over to Death Valley and then up the Owens Valley is really cool. I would always pad the trip with a day to spend in Death Valley and then a day to return via Western NV. Chains, 4WD, etc are not generally a concern until you...

tell me about idaho, specifically indy resorts

GEG (Spokane) provides access to so many mountains (US and Canadian side). But, getting to it is brutal. My home airport is BWI. Often times, it's a '2 stopper' to GEG. And, sorta silly. Like BWI>SFO>LAS>GEG. Ugggg.

tell me about idaho, specifically indy resorts

~12 years ago, using Spokane as my airport, I did a Schweitzer-Silver-Lookout Pass trip. Schweitzer was an insanely fun day with loads of coverage, weekday crowds (or lack thereof), bluebird skies, no wind and low 30's. I lapped the Stella chair and the North ridge mostly. Snow ghosts. Good...

    Odd'ish request

Way back in ~1990, the Vermont Ski Areas Association (or some semblance of an organization like it) published a 'book' that included basic info about skiing in Vermont. The book also had 2 to 3 pages of info for each ski area in VT. Basic trail maps, stats, some history, etc. I believe that the...

    Sitting Bench ski kits

Oddly enough, they do not. Full disclosure, I haven't used it while NOT wearing a winter hat. That could skew my 'comfort' thoughts. The pitch at which the back and bottom are set make it that my butt and lower back see more of the sitting force than my head. It is quite comfortable. I did...

    Sitting Bench ski kits

Thx! Wasn't an original idea as I saw it elsewhere. I wish I would have located the cupholder as to hide the arm rest attachment hole. Alas, I didn't. It bugs the heck out of me. That said, this was my first go at it. I can definitely refine the process for the next. Not including the skis...

    Recent trend with web info

Ack! RT is my local, too. I live but 10 mins from there. True, they never tracked season total, but, this year I cannot seem to find snow surface.

    Recent trend with web info

I've noticed that many areas have been deeply burying info that I feel is quite relevant. As a for instance, many websites now require 3 or more clicks to find area stats and trail maps. Further, many areas in PA are not indicating what the snow surface is (this is big down here, what with the...

    Sitting Bench ski kits

I made this using plans for a standard ADK chair, swapping out certain pieces of wood for skis. To cut, I used a combination of a right angle grinder, circular saw, and jigsaw. Finished edges with my bench grinder and sandpaper. The biggest issue I faced was the varying materials in the ski; you...

    Looking for recommendations

Hey all - first and foremost, I plan to follow any and all restrictions related to travel, Covid, etc. Secondly, I'm asking this question based on conditions being equal as it is tough to predict what weather will be a month or two out. I am considering hitting up Gore either the 3rd week of...

    Steamboat vs Utah

Hey folks. Longtime lurker here looking for some Steamboat knowledge. Covid issues notwithstanding, I am hoping that a late winter/early spring is in the cards for me. Normally, I'm an SLC guy. It's easy, affordable, great mountains, great snow, etc. That said, I'm a Southwest Airlines guy and...

    Breckenridge

Breck Long time lurker here. Been visiting Breck since 89...sure, it's had it's fair share of changes(some for the better, others worse), and can be crowded at times, but it still holds a special place in my heart. For eats, I dig Kenosha pass for BBQ and The Breck Brewery for Nachos(big...
