Anyone else experience them? Woke up yesterday morning with an extreme case and they have continued today. Have had them periodically before but not to this extreme. Anyone have any good suggestions as to how to treat them?

YMMV, back issues seem hard to diagnose
In my experience with back pain, doctors suck, physical therapy is great (and relatively affordable)

One of my sisters gets them somewhat chronically. Thing that works best is muscle relaxers. Other than that regular exercise including yoga, back heat wrap/sticky things you can wear all day. She sometimes looks like her spine is a pretzel when her back is spasming. She always thought she was reagravating something in her back but unfortunately found she has arthritis in lower spine which seems to flare up and add spasms.

Hope you feel better soon.

Muscle relaxers, heat pads, and core exercises. Crunches and leg lifts are great for back pain. I know that sounds stupid but it's true.

Spasams have subsided for the most part this morning. Appreciate all the suggestions. Hot showers and applications of Icy Hot seemed to do the trick. Mattress is not that old and we rotate it periodically. I'm fairly active, have a routine workout that I do every weekday morning, and ski every weekend in winter, play tennis, water ski and swim in summer. Got a 5+ hour drive to 7 Springs PA for sons races this weekend. (kills me because 5 hours north and I'm in NNE) Will see how the back fairs tonight.
