A minute from the Alta exit off the I-15!
Time Skied: 9:15-3:58
Conditions: Heavenly soft snow
Weather: You should be at the park enjoying a walk, not skiing.

Arrived at 9:00. Booted up for 9:15 on the bubble. Soft runs on the Main Face, then said goodbye to Carinthia parks for the season. Huge liftlines over there, there were 10 kids in line! Crazy! Lunch. Back to the Main Face where trails had a good amount of slush, but not the heavy kind. Took to the trees over on Ego Alley. Good idea? No. Bad idea? No. There was decent cover, many bare spots, but no walking required. Around 3:00 I was talking to a liftie who was riding the chair with me. He said someone had vandalized the bubble (and gotten caught) for the first time since its opening 2 years ago. I got to see the vandal coming down the lift. He was about 16-19. You'd think by that age he'd have enough smarts to NOT carve something on the bubble shell! Guess mommy has to come up with 3 grand for him! I took my final run of the season down the trees of One More Time. Soft, creamy, fresh inch of snow greeted me. Great way to end the season. Well, summer depression starts now!:p

Looks like one of the old covered doubles (cover for the grease droppings from the overhead chain drive that pulled the chairs up on the steel rail overhead) that used to be all over Mount Snow!

Likely taken at Mount Snow's "chairlift graveyard" at the corner of route 100 and Coldbrook Rd (the road up to Haystack)

It was good out there for my quickish 2hr 10 Bluebird session!

Sucks about the Bubble vandalization. The Bluebird is a HUGE source of pride to all of us Mount Snow regulars and I hope that that looser (or likely his parents) enjoys paying the $3000 that the signage all around the mountain warns folks that vandalizing a bubble will cost! And with cameras at both the top and bottom terminals its tough to get away with it

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! The first time I passed the graveyard I almost fell out of my seat! Now that there's no snow on the ground this chairlift lover finally got to take pictures of some old Yan parts!

A rumor I heard on the mountain today was that Carinthia only will be open this weekend, if any mountain at all.

I heard a much more substantial weekend operations update from a VERY reliable source who I shared a Bluebird ride with this morning. Basically, if the weather is decent, there's a VERY good chance they'll spin a few lifts, maybe even if its only on Sunday! Based on that lift ride, I'm now planning on driving up after my kids soccer games on Saturday for day #57 this year for me :D

Bubble Vandalization . . . I happened to be in the lift with a Mount Snow person with a radio and heard the details. Apparently, it was a kid, who scratched something less then suitable for families to see in the bubble. He was greeted at the top and escorted via download to meet security and his parents. $3K. They had to take the chair off the lift based on the graffiti.

The ice cream stand outside the base lodge was pretty cool! Kid's loved it. They kept filling my kids cups up with ice cream and whipped cream.
