Even as a boarder there was a great stretch with some nice soft bumps on asp that were fun. Think they seeded those too if I recall

I haven't been to Camelback in a few years. Is the no "outside food" policy really enforced? How is a family supposed to afford feeding a group and who the hell wants to eat warmed over caf food at inflated prices?

Snow at Blue was outstanding yesterday and has been way better than previous seasons.

I can't stand the main parking lot at Camelback. Royal pain.

Montage is great fun. Very flowy trails but if you go on a weekday, the long haul lift most likely won't be running, which means 2 lifts to the top.

I hear you. They definitely want you to buy their food. They won't bother you on the deck in the spring. I bring my lunch but eat it a various places where they don't mind.

Why? Because of the hill to get up to the lodge? (wakes the legs up) Not the best but not nearly the worst I've seen. Not a big fan of the Elk mobile.

They don't really bother you too much - I've had folks ask us to keep our cooler on the ground, or go buy fries so we wouldn't have to be asked to leave…. It's just the attitude of posting the signs that really gets me.

Packing lunch vs. buying food on the hill is the difference between a few days more of skiing for us. I wised they kind of embraced that - now I know full well, they have to make their money where and when they can, so you know, it is what it is.

Re: parking - we always park at the lower lot and use that lodge for tickets - much easier than up top and usually less crowded.

It sucks to go reload on beers. That and some of our crew has been asked to stop drinking in the parking lot.

Ah, They want you to buy their beers (@ 3x the price), but I know you Root (and the Pasar's), a little bit of laying low (like with other things, hint, hint) and they won't bother you. A full out Psar tailgate will attract their attention. But I get where your coming from.

Every resort, ski area,hill..wants you to but their food. If I recall, the main lodge is very large with plentiful seating. What happens to the food packing scofflaws..they get shamed and escorted to the door? haha....Tell me-where are the various places that they don't mind? Also, during the less busy weekdays..does anyone really care??

I'm actually wanting to go to either Blue, Camelback or Shawnee on Sunday night (only chance I have to ski the next few days). Blue is closest to me and is least expensive on Sunday nights ($30 from 4-10). Shawnee is a couple of dollars more and Camelback a few dollars more than Shawnee. Is Blue worth the few dollars saved plus the fact they're open until 10:00 whereas the others close at 9:00?

Blue has much better trails than Shawnee but by night on Sunday it will be completely skied off down to ice. Shawnee will likely have better conditions but the trails are not as good.
The OP asked about easy cruisers. Why would you fight the crowds at CB or Blue if you just want to ski easy cruisers or you have beginners or kids with you? On a weekend if you just want some easy cruisers, Alpine Mountain or Ski Big Bear (not Bear Creek) are better and less expensive options.

Yeah, we have a habit of being loud and obnoxious and dancing in the path of the busses. Good times, good times.

IMO of those mountains, Blue and CB beat Shawnee pretty handily. And crowds being equal i would choose Blue.

Shawnee is great for beginners and I used to take my kids there all the time (including once in january this year), but we've started going to Blue. The terrain at Blue is significantly more challenging than Shawnee. I haven't been to Camelback in years, I've always heard it's very crowded. Skied Blue on Sunday and Monday of MLK weekend. Both days had pretty long lift lines. The real problem at Blue occurred on Monday when the six chair went offline creating long lines at the quad next to it. When they had the 6 up and running there were virtually no lines. My criticism of Blue is that it is awkwardly set up with the lodge at the top. Also, they allow equipment in the lodge so I was constantly dodging poles and skis. Last, the lift lines aren't organized at all. It's basically a free for all. That said, the terrain at Blue was excellent (within the framework of being 1.5 hours from my house in NJ)
