I dare say that other than my car, the most useful "tool" I've ever gotten is a headlamp. I use it for more non-hiking tasks than hiking.
I've used it for
- changing a tire at night
- looking for that screw that fell behind my desk
- fixing a pipe under a sink
- working on small items when the lighting stinks
- mowing the lawn at night
- trying to find the leak in the attic
- trying to find the spatula I dropped behind the stove
- using the outhouse at night
- finding my black dog at night
What do you use it for?
