North Conway info

since i have a peak pass i want to hit Wildcat and attitash over pres weekend. never been to either one so i'll get to add to my list of new places.

checking airbnb and finding some decent and affordable places. never been to the area. Any suggestions on staying closer to Att. or WC or just north conway?

1 person is non-skier. will want to hit town. i don't mind driving 20-30 mins to the mountain

Black is still running and I agree if the snow is good would be an awesome spot to check out as well.
Agree on Jackson village as well. Nice and quiet w/o the hustle and bustle of N Conway but still convenient for everyone.

Will non-skiers have own transportation? If yes, then Jackson is a good location. If no, then N Conway Village. Lot more to walk to in N Conway Village than Jackson.

There are no shortage of great options in the North Conway area. Jackson can be a bit of a hike from downtown North Conway if you're just going out to grab something. The hotel options in North Conway itself a too numerous to mention without some more specificity. The number of stores, hotels, restaurants, etc in North Conway dwarfs any other ski town in New England.

If you (or anyone else on the board) is looking for an affordable option to stay, there are a number of ski clubs throughout the valley. Mine is only a mile or two to downtown. Most clubs are more than happy to host guests for $25 / person / night. You'll meet lots of passionate skiers who would be happy to show you around the mountains, and there is a lively inter-club social scene.

If you can swing it, Red Jacket Inn has a water park which the kids would enjoy. And from there there is plenty of places to eat, shop and be merry!

1 day @ wildcat

should i try cranmore and Black or some other ski hill or just enjoy my "free" (prepaid) skiing at the two peak resorts for additional day(s)?

best option for crowds on a very busy weekend?

Black is a great mtn when the snow is good and would be a sweet choice for crowd avoidance during that wknd.

Black has enough terrain for every ability level

I'd probably do 2 days at Wildcat, 1 Tash, 1 Black if I were you. If you only wanted one at each mtn I'd do the 4th day at Cranmore or Shawnee Peak

Black is a good play for crowd avoidance on the busiest day of your stay if there has been recent natural. Otherwise focus your busy days at Wildcat.

Don't ski Attitash on the weekend.

I'd probably look to try Bretton Woods over Cranmore or Shawnee.

Given current conditions in the Valley, if your trip was this weekend, I'd probably go

Saturday - Wildcat
Sunday - Wildcat
Monday - Bretton Woods
Tuesday - Attitash

Yes. Probably more so actually. It's a very steep mountain and gets skied off quickly. So, my logic with Tuesday vs Monday is it would allow an extra day for the grooming to recover from the busy weekend

well crap, i guess i should have taken a look at the trail maps. don't know why but i had it in my head that Attitash was a "blue" mountain. looks like fairly challenging with more black from the tops than blue. i'll be skiing with daughter on Friday and she's not very aggressive. we can take a few runs down different trails and meet up again at bottom. doesn't look too huge, as in spread out.
