Started the season with a powder day today. Left home to rain and 45 degrees...temp dropped quickly between Portland and Gray and the rain snow line was just north of Oxford. Forecast was for a change to rain at SR around 1 or 2 but unfortunately it came in around 11:30. Even still, it was a phenomenal morning. They reported 7" but felt like even more than that up high.

T2 and Sunday Punch were groomed down the middle but ungroomed down the sides and there was some areas of deep snow down those sides. Still a few tricky waterbars near the bottom that are hard to see with the fresh snow so I mainly lapped from the midstation with a few top to bottom runs thrown in.

Upper Cut and Goat Path were open with natural snow which was a real treat. Nice soft snow on both with a few water bars to watch out for but otherwise in beautiful shape.

After the change to rain the snow thickened up a bit and had a spring like feel to it. Usually would love it but tough to ski on day 1. Hard freeze coming tonight will probably put the natural trails out of play until the next storm but guns should be roaring elsewhere. Barker Quad was testing all day and will open tomorrow and heard they're shooting for Spruce by the weekend.

Shaping up to be the best Thanksgiving in many years. Let's hope it continues for a good wall to wall winter...been a while since we've had one of those. Hoping to get back out by next Tuesday. Maybe even back to SR...looks like they'll have by far the best terrain availability of the Ikon mountains.

Very nice. Glad to hear they got some snow out of this storm. It was a rainy day in the flatlands!
