Bretton Woods Instructor help

My family and I ski at Bretton Woods and I have come to a cross roads in teaching my son. I feel that he can benefit from a lesson but I see such a diverse pool of instructors at Bretton Woods that I want to make sure my money isn't wasted. Has anyone had any positive experiences at Bretton Woods with a more "seasoned" professional that they would care to recommend.

Ask them if they have a PSIA Level 3 instructor and make a request (instructors get paid more if you request them by name so they will appreciate it!) Getting to a PSIA Level 3 is not given to every instructor. It takes a special kind of skier and teacher to reach that level. Ask if any level 3 has a children specialist certification too.

When you say "teach your son" are we talking about guiding a 4-year-old down the magic carpet slope in a wedge or a 12-year-old who's ripping through the bumps?? Don't think you "need" a level 3 instructor. The younger the student the more valuable the "personality" of the instructor becomes. Hence my question about age. If your son is young and has separation anxiety they may jive with a college-aged girl who's young, energetic, and patient better than 60-year-old Hans Skiinstructorheisenberg who would rather teach adults to ski than kids.

Talk to the ski school, explain what you are looking for and describe your son to them. Many experienced instructors have a "sweet spot", an age group or ability level that they are particularly good at. The ski school will know this and be able to pair up your son with an appropropriate instructor.
