Resort:
Tenney Mountain, Plymouth NH.

Conditions: Boney to Packed Powder

Report:
Seeing that I had the morning off before I had to go out and do some political stuff (canvassing for a particular candidate), I wanted to check out Tenney. My first time being there, I had no idea what to expect, other than passing by it on I-93 off in the distance. I am glad I got to check it out, although conditions were wicked boney with the exception of a couple of trails. It's certainly a very cool place, with that retro feeling and vibe. Lift tickets, being $59 wasn't too bad, but they certainly could use a dump or two to help the trails as they are pretty much natural with some spot snowmaking here and there.

Overall, this place is a lot of fun. I hope to see it succeed for years to come!

Best run of the day with the best coverage too:

Wow thanks!

BTW Ride and Ski Card you pay $40.

I really hope enough snow happens and the occasion occurs for me to check them out this season as well. Looks thin but potentially fun from your photos.

How permissive were they about opening trails with thin coverage? I assume relatively so... which is a good thing

Did you find the mountain overall somewhat challenging and with satisfying runs?

I wish I knew about the rid and ski card! But yeah they are so dependent on natural snow, that without it - you need to bring your good rock skis. It was fun though and challenging not to gut my base. They had all their trails open yesterday, there were open patches, water bars, bare spots, and thickets poking out. It's certainly not your loon or gunstock in that aspect.

The overall mountain isn't what I would call challenging. It's more like say black mountian - but it is a fun place with nice weaving trails and no wide open boulevards.

Thanks for the report. I'm happy to see that Tenney is back in business. I really like old ski areas that have this old NE vibe.
Definitely on my target list.

How was the "crowd". Are the pulling people in? I was there in early 90's, with a crowd of maybe 20 others .

I hope they make it.

Nice pics and TR. I agree with what you said about terrain--a few short steeper pitches, but otherwise a fun place with some nice long blues.

the parking lot was pretty full and people were there. It’s definitely a community oriented mountain and encourage everyone here to visit at least once this season!

I do hope that they make it. Mike really generated a lot of interest with the Facebook page and his famous, "Mike from Tenney" videos he did. I think that interest fizzled when they were not able to get things going sooner than they did and on such a limited basis. That said, from what I have seen, a lot of locals are really appreciative of them opening back up and their bar/restaurant is pretty popular.
