NEWRY, Maine -- 210 Santas donated a total of $2200 to charity, earning them each three free days of skiing and riding plus the chance to participate in the highly coveted annual Santa Sunday taking place today at Sunday River.

"This is one of Sunday River's favorite events and fundraisers," said Jim Costello, Director of Sales and Marketing for Sunday River. "We have families who participate in Santa Sunday year after year. We pride ourselves in being part of their great memories and a wonderful cause."

Participants who donned head-to-toe Santa attire received a free day of skiing or riding for today's event, as well as vouchers for two additional days. A minimum donation of $10 toward the Bethel Rotary Club's Annual Christmas Toy Drive was required and will be used to purchase gifts for children in the region.

The event was held on Sunday River's Broadway trail, one of the 41 trails open today. Cold temperatures have allowed the resort to expand terrain onto five mountain peaks with snowmakers adding more trails daily.

Weather forecasts call for between one and three inches of new snow to the region tonight and tomorrow. Skiers and riders are currently enjoying some of the best early season conditions in many years thanks to extensive snowmaking and Sunday River's first in the northeast opening on October 31.
