I used my one and only Wasatch Benefit day (from my Snowbird pass) to enjoy a one foot powder day at Alta on 1 APR 2025. It was a real fine combo of light quality snow with small crowds on the hill. I skied in the morning and got out by 1pm when an LCC access road closure was about to occur for avi mitigation. Wish I had more days at Alta! Skied Supreme the whole time, great terrain for storm day skiing. April is maybe my favorite time in Utah! Here are a few pics I took.

Free refills the whole time.

Wow, looks like you had a great day out there. My son was telling me this weekend that his favorite ski days are the blue bird ones. I'll take a day like you had today over a blue bird day any day!

I'll say it is kind of surprising that a Snowbird season pass only gets you one day at Alta. With the mountains connected you would think buying a season pass at either place would get you atleast a few days at the resort next door.

Believe the reciprocity was a bit more generous in the past. Used to be three free alta days with a snowbird season pass, but that was quite a few years ago. Part of the problem also is that Snowbird is Ikon base and Alta is Ikon premium. I have a senior snowbird pass and an ikon base pass. if i had a senior alta pass and an ikon base pass i'd get five days at snowbird.

My son is a part time instructor at snowbird and I like to ski with him there fairly often. so i'm biased towards the bird. Otherwise, I might try switching to alta. for me to have senior passes at both resorts would cost me basically double what I pay now, ~$2500 vs. ~1350.

It's so crowded up there I bet Snowbird eventually is added to the premium pass but I guess that wouldn't help your case for more days at Alta anyway. It looks like an Ikon session pass would be the only option to ski more days there outside of a second pass.

That is cool your son is an instructor you taught him well, the good news is that Snowbird is better anyway!

Saw a guy doing a big huck in a very stout area of the Upper Cirque called the Forbidden Zone. He made a bomb hole in the long, steep runout with his landing.
