Anyone know of "Tours de Sport"

I've been trying to come up with an affordable way to repeat the Easter trip my family took last year to Sunday River and I came across a site called "Tours de Sport"

Link: http://www.toursdesport.com/

At this site I got a quote for $570 for 3 nights lodging and 2 days skiing for 2 adults and 2 kids. This contrasts with a quote of above $1000 directly through the resort.

Anyone have any experience with this outfit, or any advice on how I might get some confidence that I won't be ripped off before I pull the trigger on this deal?

Thanks

Hi Euler!

Thanks for your interest in Tours de Sport! I work for Tours de Sport in the Marketing department (please see the about us page on the website). I certainly don't mean to come off as tooting our own horn here, but we have been selling winter ski vacation packages in the Northeast since 1982 and we are currently the largest tour operator that works will all the major ski destinations. Please feel confident that we are definitely not a fly-by-night type of an operation.

That being said, I asked one of our sales reps about your price quote for what you stated in your post and it does seem a little low - please contact your sales rep to make sure nothing was missed by mistake. I didn't have enough information to look up your quote directly, but if you like, please feel free to contact me and we can make sure we get you a good price! We can beat booking directly through the resort in most, if not all scenarios.

At any rate, good luck on your search for repeating your Easter trip to Sunday River - no matter who you book through you can't go wrong!

Marc - I came across this site by a Google alert for our company name, I'm glad I did, it's a great site! I hope my presence here isn't somehow setting you or anyone else off, I don't intend on doing any "selling" here, but if someone is asking about us, I certainly would like to respond to them!

dmc - I don't know which picture your referring to, but PM me about it and I will be more than happy to check into it for you. I am not aware that any images are being used without permission.

skidbump - Thanks for using us!

Happy Trails!

I had used "Tour de Sport" 10-11 years ago for a trip to Big Sky, MT. One of the few times that a complete package deal was less costly than purchasing the different elements (airfare, airport-resort transportation, lodging and lift tickets) a la carte. If I remember correctly, I even had a "one-person" contact that I dealt with exclusively whenever I had a question about anything to do with the trip.

All in all a very good experience.

just about all the Hunter Pictures... And they are pictures i took after a "blowout" rain event.. so they actually suck...

super unprofessional.. and to crop the www.powderhound.org is was out of line...

the pictures stolen from my website and cropped to remove my watermark are the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th picture after the kid in the tube... in the slideshow...

I've been meaning to get around to letting then know as well as let the other photog they stole picture from know as well...

I used to work with "Tours De' Spore" when I parked busses at Hunter...
Some cute girls worked there... Been to the big blowout parties..

Some good times...

It may have been unintentional. I'm giving the benefit of the doubt here, but hopefully they will fix it, or apologize profusely and ask permission, and take them down if none is given. Sometimes the guy who ends up with stolen property is just as surprised as the person who suddenly finds it stolen. :-D

normally - I'll just take a credit and let anyone use any picture I've taken.. My pictures are all over the net.. Especially my TUX shots...

But - they lopped off my watermark.. So they KNEW that they we're stealing..

and thats just bad form... and kinda makes me mad...

What I was getting at is, are those images on any other sites? Or perhaps listed as stock photos of the ski area someplace, where someone else, or even some temp worker, cropped the images? Who knows, give the guy a sec to find out. :-D

The reason why I doubt that they ended up stock photos is because the pictures actually show water damage after a big rain storm...

Who would want to show eroded snow to sell a ski trip?

Looks like a classic "grab and hack" job to me.. not saying it was a company wide conspiracy.. But... they do have my shots on their site with my watermark cropped...

If they did come from somewhere else - I'd like to know...

Hope the photo swiping issue gets resolved, DMC. Lopping off your watermark and using the picture w/o permission is total B.S.

That being said, I'll address the original poster:

My friend booked a trip for us with Tour de Sport to Mount Snow in December and they were on the ball and accommodating. Very detail oriented group. Even included tickets for unlimited Ski Valet for the entire group, to our surprise. (I had my season pass and passed on the tickets and they even included me on the valet)

DMC, Although I am still not 100% sure about this picture problem, I do certainly agree with you that many of the pictures for Hunter Mtn. were poor. I have had my webteam update the page with better pictures from Hunter.

I have looked on your site and couldn't find the same pictures, but that doesn't mean they are not there. However, I did take note that your watermark on the pictures on your site is very small and at the size of the pictures on our site, it honestly would not have been seen/noticeable anyway.

Tours de Sport prides itself on customer service and if these pictures were taken from your site and your watermark was cropped, I apologize - I assure you that it was unintentional. Sometimes depending on the size of the picture, when we publish an image, our system auto-resizes the image - which may include slicing off the top/bottom or sides (effectively centering the image to meet the size requirement for the site).

I am glad others here have used our services and have had great experiences, thank you!

ctenidae - To answer your question, we don't currently sell any trips to Europe. We currently just sell vacations to resorts in the Northeast US and Canada. Feel free to ask questions about trips/prices and I will get the information for you! Thanks!

You can explain until the cows come home... Blame whomever...

But those pictures were taken, cropped to hide where they came from and posted on your site... Your graphic/web person knows this... and if they don't... Well... You probably have all kinds of stuff going on at that site.

Thanks you for taking them off.. Good luck with the tours..
