Hello,
Looking for a little guidance here. Leaving for steamboat tomorrow and want to demo some skis. Been on Atomic Beta Ride 9.22 (190) for over 5 seasons and want to experience some newer technology. The mountain doesn't seem to have a ton of demo choices. They have the Izor 9:7 and Rossy Axis as well as some of last years models. Anyone have any info on the Izor 9:7? I am 6'1" 215 lbs ski mostly blacks. Like to go fast and make medium turns. Don't do more than a few bump runs/day. Thanks,
CC

I have never skiied those skiis, but have seen them in action on the feet of a fellow instructor. I do not think the izor series is what you are looking for in a "carving ski", that being a fast medium to large turing ski.

My co worker is about 5'10'' probably close to 170/180. While the izors seemed to be performing awesome with short turns, as he increased his speed to keep up with me and my borrowed SL skiis, his skiis appeared to begin loosing edge hold. He was in excellent form and is a level 9+ skiier, I just don't think that they were capable of holding him at those speeds. Conditions were soft ice (carvable to only the best of skiiers)

Look into a stiffer ski. But if you do make a few bump runs, dont go too stiff (or go stiff and short with side cut). It sounds like you want an all mountain ski. If you truly are an advanced skiier, you may find that ideal ski in places you never expected it. For example, I find that slalom skiis make great bump skiis. Shop, demo, be open to odd possiblilities.

I for one never thought I would be on a rossignol Z9, I havent tried them yet (bought them in a rush because I broke my skiis and without them I cant bring home the bread) but several people who know my skiing style better then I do thinks they are the ultimate ski for me...even better then my choice slalom skiis.
