apparently there was a avalanche sunday morning in the lover's leap area in blue sky basin at vail. the skier was able to "swim" his way to top, was partially buried and had to be dug out. i've skied that trail many times. scary stuff. vail closed the area for the rest of the day. jersey joey did you hear about this. story below:

We didn't hear about it until we got home Monday morning. Thankfuly no one was hurt. We did not get over to BSB on Sunday, but we spent the whole morning there Saturday and we were in Lovers Leap. No slide while we were in that area. There was surely enough snow to slide though, of that I have no doubt. There was avy control done in that area Sat morning before they opened it up for the season. This is very surprising.

I know that a young girl was killed in an inbounds slide at Snowbird (Baldy area) on Saturday. Very sad.
