I was just thinking what people thought were the best trails for each rating.

I think for green it is polecat, i even still love to ski it. Everytime i go to wildcat i do it atleast 3 times. For blues i would say lynx at wildcat also upper cannon. For blacks i would middle earth or castlerock run. For double blacks white nitro and the backsides at sugarloaf

i think the only unanamous vote for this type of popularity contest would have to be polecat, it's truly a green circle trail that every ability can enjoy for both trail aesthetics and the view. beyond that, i couldn't even begin to list favorites per rating... there's just too many good trails out there.

The one Green off of the timberline chair @ The Loaf is a good circle, awesome views and long.
I find it gives beginners a sense of accomplishment taking the lift up to that burly summit and being able to ski down, a real moral booster.

ya timberline, it used to be a blue but now is a green. Also sugarloaf has some awsome steep blues like ramdon and kingslanding

Green- It's a tie between Dream Weaver at Okemo and Exhibition at Beast for me.

Blue- Header at K when it isn't too crowded is a great one.

Black- Avalanche at Cannon, Lower FIS at Sugarbush, and Lower Antelope at MRG.

Double Black- Rumble and Ripcord at Sugarbush, Nitro at Sugarloaf, and White Heat at the River.

Green-- ? Don't ski them often enough to have a favorite.

Blue-- Twister @ Gore (awesome for cruising at high speeds)

Black-- Chin Clip @ Stowe (great bumps, perfect pacing all the way)

Double Black-- Upper Darby @ Gore (short, steep, and a blast to ski)

Gotta agree with the Lower FIS, love that trail, except for the last section, whish is uphill. Me and the wife laugh that this is what makes it a Black :)

Ok, Chin Clip is cool too. That's the problem, it's really hard to pick a favorite. With the Greens it may be easy, with anything above conditions change so much from day to day that what may be crap one day may be great the next. But I have never been disappointed in Lower FIS

There is no such thing as "double black" here in the east, at least not in any lift serviced areas.

I think that a double black ought to be reserved for something steep enough so you have to initiate your turn from the uphill ski and clear good 5-6 feet of air as you making your turn. I'm talking about a consitent steep pitch not just an occassional jump from a boulder or a frozen waterfall.

I'm going to have to disagree here. Goat and Lookout at Stowe are as difficult as any double blacks I've skied in Colorado - and I've been to every ski area in that state searching out the most difficult terrain with the exceptions of Teluride, Crested Butte and Wolf Creek

That's a good point...when did they start calling them double blacks...used to be just green, blue, black...as I recall...

Green - Toll road
Blue - Who Cares...ok Obsession...wait..that's black
Black - Nobody mentions the front 4?
