BLANDFORD, MA — Westfield Boy Scout Evan Belisle wanted to give something to the community for his Eagle Scout Project. Blood. But not just his own. And with the recent report by the Red Cross of a shortage of blood in the area, timing couldn't be better. Evan has organized a local Red Cross Blood Drive to be held at the Blandford Ski Area just 15 minutes from downtown Westfield.

The American Red Cross will be at the Blandford Ski Area’s annual Open House and Ski Sale on Sunday November 7, 2004 from 10am-4pm for blood donations. Belisle has even arranged for the ski area to donate one lift ticket to each of the first 100 blood donors and with New England sports fever at a peak, donors can also enter to win a pair of New England Patriots tickets!

Walk-in donors are always welcome. You can make an appointment by calling 1-800-GIVE LIFE. You may be eligible to donate if you are 17 or older, you weigh at least 110 pounds and you are in generally good health. (Most medications are OK). There is a one-year deferral for tattoos. The American Red Cross web site is at www.newenglandblood.org.

The Blandford Ski Area is located 15 minutes from Westfield, MA. For more information and directions, contact the Blandford Ski Area at (413) 848-2860 or visit online at www.skiblandford.org.
