Don't you just hate this guy? He has taken every bit of fan goodwill and flushed it by being a cheating liar. And now he may miss the season with a knee injury. Bummer for you, Barry. You won't get to break Aaron or Ruth's home run records, and you shouldn't. They did it legitimately, and Barry is a chemically-enhanced freak.

Guess it's harder to stay in shape without the needle every week, huh, Barry? Welcome to your middle age like it ought to have been, jerk.....

I've read that the BABE drank beer and ate Hot Dogs all night all season long....would that qualify him as a chemically-enhanced freak?

Yup.

Just like Martha Stewart, Barry Bonds would be a "nobody" if people didn't watch him play.

Screw baseball...let's go hiking!

Sounds like a plan! :D

No, I think you meant, "screw baseball, let's go SKIING!"

Was saying last night I ALWAYS think, "huh, wish I was on skis," when I hike but never, "wish I was hiking," when I ski....interesting :D

True, true... :D

There's actually lots of things I'd rather be doing than watching or hearing about baseball though. I'm so sick of hearing about steriods in baseball!!

That's the same high-fat/high-alcohol diet I'm on!

And I thought I was starting a new fad.

Now he might miss the whole year.....hmmmm looks like he may be trying to avoid a steroid test to me. I hope he doesn't break the record. He does not play for the love of the game but only for the glory that it bestows upon him.
I used to enjoy baseball when everyone had a fair chance to win. Nowadays, half the teams are eliminated after the first two weeks of the season. Bud Selig turned a blind eye to the steriod use because lots of homers put fans in the seats and kept the money flowing. It's too bad, it's not the national pastime anymore.

i heard this crap on the radio this morning. while i am not going to blast the home run record stuff (what's done is done and clearly most people were doing the juice), he was all poo poo and boo hoo to the press blaming them for all his woos. as if the press should not have been muckracking! it's their freaking job.

what ever barry. he could have gone down with dignity, now he just looks like a fool.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

I won't repeat all the stuff that has been said, most of which I agree with. I will say that when Bonds came up he was one of the best in baseball....ever.

I think people tend to forget he literally grew up in MLB baseball and saw his father and godfather (Mays)go through some horrific times with the media. Of course this does not excuse his behavior, but I wonder how we (this board), would react if in the same circumstance (glasses houses anyone).

When some of these players literally start dying, I think the system will naturally change.

Make no mistake either. Bonds will be back. He and his ego are too close to the record. That to me is a true shame, not so much if he breaks the record, but that a player is "playing" for a record and not a championship.

Speaking of which, anyone else headed to fenway on April 11?

 I'm with ya DMC..Mets fan since 62' Would love to see a Mets/Red Sox series.

DO like the Red Sox but it appears their pitching staff is a mere shadow of last year's group....doubt they will even make the playoffs...bummer. Just a prediction from what I have seen this spring..hope I'm wrong.

You're insane. The Sox will make the playoffs for the following reasons:
-Their pitching staff. Schilling will miss maybe 1-2 starts in April, and Wade Miller will win 15 after he comes back in May.
-Their starting lineup will be healthy at the start of the season as opposed to last year when Nixon, Nose-mar and Mueller were all out.
-Their bench and bullpen are deeper than last year (when they won the World Series, by the way)
-The Yanks are overrated - again. The Big Unit and Mussina are the only proven starters on the team, and they are O-L-D.
-The Yanks will not run away with the division this year. They are extremely nervous now that the Sox finally beat them, and Baltimore is better as well.
-Even if the Yanks manage to win the AL East again, the wild card will come out of the East again. There's no competition for second place in any of the other divisions.

The Red Sox will win 98 games and beat the Yanks for the division by 3-5 games, specially after Johnson goes on the DL in August.

Nyaaaaah - !! Another uninformed NY baseball fan. Go listen to more of the Fan and repeat after me - "26 World Chamionships.....26 World Chamionships......26 World Chamionships........"
