Putting Burke up against Saddleback was not fair. Shame on you, Boston Globe!!!

Haven't been to either- please enlighten me.

I was thinking the same thing. Most of the match-ups start with a big guy and a little guy. These two are fairly matched in vibe and terrain so it makes a tough choice and it's sad to have to eliminate one right off the bat. Saddleback won btw.

Like a 8 and 9 seed battling it out in the NCAA tourney. Both are good but one has to lose.

The Burton brackett had Smuggs vs Bretton Woods. The Bode bracket had Attitash vs Sunapee.

Although IMHO, matchups like Burke vs Sunapee, Smuggs vs Attitash, and Bretton Woods vs Saddleback would have been better.

Jay Peak vs. Pats Peak.....Loon vs. Wachusett....Killington vs. Jiminy Peak

Are they serious?
Where is the competition?

They really should have grouped the mountains into categories....family hills, destination resorts, old school classic mtns, feeder/after school hills. And ideally do it by geography as well. This format is unlikely to produce any meaningful result.

Having said that, go Saddleback!

Matchups were based on the amount of votes each mountain received last year. So, yeah, tough matchups, but seemed a fair way to do it. Next year should see an influx of new mountains. Maybe the bottom 5 get ousted for 5 new ones or something to that nature. - Eric

Solid elite eight in my book...

Sugarbush vs Sunday River
Jay Peak vs Mad River
Sugarloaf vs Killington
Stowe vs Wildcat

Same 8 as last year, different match up thoughs

Im saying a final four of Sugarbush vs Jay and Sugarloaf vs Stowe

With Sugarloaf v. Sugarbush final and Sugarloaf winning
