I gotta say it, this thread is a new low in waiting for it to snow. A true definition of minutiae. Please Ullr, son of Sif and stepson of Thor, please come release us from these chains of above freezing temps and r#$@! I beg of you!

This I believe comes from the days of old leather boots. But I still do it.

Hard to admit that I remember this, but you are correct.

I still do it too. And it does keep the boots limber and easier to put on, especially right after the offseason.

Right where I want to be

The main reason I do it is to make buckling easier not real putting it on which I think is more difficult when leaving them buckled all the time.

A few years ago never buckled a pair of boots after skiing. By the end of the season the tounge was bent sideways and very difficult to get on my foot, so I always do it now.

My Dad told me

My Dad told me to buckle my boots when I was younger. Take care of your equipment. Buckling your boots helps keep the shape of your boot and also keeps the shape of the liner to your foot also. I pull the liners out 3 or 4 times a season to make sure their dry. Any moisture in the shell will lead to cold feet. Also I carry a container of foot powder and use it every ski day. Happy feet = good ski day.
