Those final jumps in skiercross are IMO, too dangerous, and unnecessary. Just at the recent X-games, I mentioned to my gf that someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed on one of those.

And not just that event, but several of the other sports like Snowmobile Freestyle are becoming too dangerous frankly. There's a point where "the inherent dangers of the sport" crosses a threshold, and I think we've arrived there. The worst offenders are the extreme skiing movies, where some of the lines people are taking solely to "get the shot" or outdo one another are becoming simply ludicrous, regardless of how much skill the skiers/boarders have.

Its like what auto racing was becoming..insane speed that what too much for a human to handle...but in this case..you can't put restrictor plates on skiers...

There's no need for an absolutely gigantic booter right at the finish line. That's what creates the danger of death in the sport. That "booter ending" is just made for TV nonsense, pure and simple. Hopefully they get rid of it, because I for one LOVE watching skiercross, but more and more people are going to break their backs or become paralyzed or even die because of it.
