That Co. butchered Killington. Taking out the old school lifts. Replacing Summit quad with Gondola. Not blowing snow enough. Firing employees treating, snowmakers like crap.

Les Otten The Mtn Butcher of the East

Turned Sunday River into a windblown desert, every trail exactly the same, denuded trails allowing scorching winds to blow

Les Otten isn't the one who caused the major problems.

He was responsible for most of the new lifts, but he had a commitment to blowing snow and running a good resort, he just expanded too quickly..

The new lifts were necessary like it or not.....people simply don't like Fixed-Grips anymore, and K is a business, and their goal is making money, not providing a MRG experience.

ASC is responsible for many of the current problems, but they have been trying to do a good job, they simply haven't had the cash to do it.

Last time I checked, it used to be the Killington Double, not a quad.

As much as you might hate ASC, you can't deny that when you look back at what they've done, they've been a revolutionary force in the ski industry, taking things nationwide, putting in major developments and creating a true New England season pass with some really good mountains on it at a great price.

You can argue their financials merits/interests all you want, but in the end, they took New England skiing to a new(and argueably) better level across the board.

Before you post, you should be sure that your facts are straight. :-?

The summit lift was a double, not a quad.

Les Otten's work at Sunday River predated the rise of ASC. In fact, his success at Sunday River catapulted him to create ASC. His innovations at Sunday River were exported to the other members/now former members of ASC. Otten's changes only reflected what skiers and riders wanted at that time....lots of snowmaking, fast lifts, wide trails, etc.

Now back to the regularly scheduled programming....

Les is the one who brought Sunday River and Sugarbush into what they are today. Without the investment, it wouldn't have happened.

That said, what has happened since then is disgusting. Killington has been butchered....
