Castelli Mortirolo WindStopper Jacket - Men's
Named after the famous Cima Pantani -- a brutal pass in the Italian Alps -- the Castelli Mortirolo Windstopper Jacket is perfect if you're lucky enough to live in a place where winter isn't all that cold. Taking several cues from Castelli's more heavy-duty Espresso Due Jacket, the Mortirolo provides many of the same features while being geared for more moderate temperatures (those higher than 46 F).
The Mortirolo is basically a jacket made in two parts. The front uses Windstopper X-Fast, a fabric constructed using high-tech circular interlocking polyester to provide total wind protection. However, Castelli realizes that cyclists in temperate climates don't require full Windstopper coverage so the back of the Mortirolo is made from Warmer, a 100% polyester fabric that's soft and fleecy to keep you warm while wicking moisture away to keep you dry. This combination of windproof and permeable materials protects your body from the wind, yet helps you avoid overheating.
Breathability is further enhanced by the addition of two vertical zippers down the front of the jacket. Ever hit the summit of a long climb in cold weather only to freeze going down the other side? The jacket's chest vents address this problem: simply unzip them while climbing to let heat and moisture escape, then close them while descending to once again block the wind and insulate your torso.
The Mortirolo Jacket comes with three rear pockets for your riding essentials, plus it has an internal MP3 player/phone pocket and a cable port for your headphones. Castelli's YKK camlock zipper stays flat while the zipper head is down, and rear reflective tabs improve visibility on gray winter training rides.
The Castelli Mortirolo Windstopper Jacket is available in four color combinations -- Anthracite/black, Cyan/black/white, Red/black/white, and White/black/anthracite. It comes in six Castelli-specific sizes from Small through XXX-Large. Like most Castelli clothing, the Mortirolo is designed to be form-fitting as the technical fabrics used to construct the jacket work best when in close contact with your body. Be sure to check the sizing chart to ensure proper fit.
