Last year I went to Bellereye on one of those days when the "Flex ticket" can be had for $25 (or something like that). The crowd was totally unbearable. At the ticket office and on the mountain. The lift lines were like Time Square on New Years Eve!!!

If any of you gone on one of those days, how's your experience? I wonder if my experience was one-off? Or very typical?

Should I resign myself NOT to bother with $25/day for 4 runs, each with 3/4 hr wait on the liftline? Or should I give it another try because that's not typical? Or, would a different mountain be better?

my experiences over the past half dozen years at Belleayre are free birthday, customer appreciation days and spring skiing ... most of these have been mid-week other than springtime ... I have never encountered a liftline of any sort and have always had a pleasant experience with it's personnel

Never been to Belleayre on a flex day. Mid-weeks and weekends have both gone well, line-wise. Haven't been there too, too much though so maybe I just got lucky. Still, I'd risk going back, if only for ASIA clinics.

Best days last season were the $15 fridays (1/month)...not crowded, could do as many runs as you could stand. I was there later in March on a Potter Bros Sunday and it was busy but not unpleasant. I tend to do some runs off the quad early and then stay out of that area the rest of the day. Rarely experienced long lines on my 4 visits last year. Most frustrating for me is the quad line which is poorly managed to keep all chairs full and has lots of ski newbies who are just figuring it all out. I know that's what it will be at that lift, so I try not to let it bug me.

I wonder if the day you went was the one where the quad had a breakdown all morning. Wasn't there but heard it was awful.

It was broken for some time. How often that happens? More over, the lines at the ticket office was awful to begim with.

Mid-week was fine. But then, mid-week I have many other options.

Did anyone gone to other "flex ticket" days on other resort? Was it also bad or was it just an exception that I happened to stumble upon?

25 dollar days are equal to weekend .If you get there before lifts open"830ish" and get out early you can avoid the masses.Only draw back this yr is no snowmaking on 3 or 4 trails off tops and 2 at mid stations.15 dollar week is a 7 day weekend.

This is exactly why I started doing this, because the mountain sure does not publish this kind of stuff...
You can see comments about the Belleayre crowds (and other crap) at my blog and in my AZ trip reports* for 30 weekend/holiday days spent there.
