Hey all...planning a trip in early March (3,4,5,6) plan to ski Okemo, Gore and Whiteface. Being from PA, the season is quickly winding down at this time. What should I expect up North on these dates? Avg temps are listed as hi 30ish, lo 10ish. I realize that year to year it differs, but what conditions do you typically find early March? Appreciate any help you can give.

The nice thing about Okemo that time of year is, despite the wind and temp (whatever they are or are not), you can find someplace to ski.

I was there last year...probably closer to mid-March. The top was firm, bluebird day (great views). So...if it's warm, the upper service lifts will allow you to stay on the former snow.

The bottom gets very soft when it's warm there. It seem worse that other "bases"...maybe because it is more of a "bowl" than other places. So that last run to the lodge (after burning yourself out on the hill) can be a lot of work. I've walked it once because it was so much like mashed potatoes. Great day of skiing regardless.

I hope this winter figures itself out soon. Early March should be good. Enjoy.

Like everywhere else in the Northeast, March is usually the best month at Gore and WF. I don't know how much you know about WF, but this is the time of year the Slides may open. Of course with the lousey weather we have had so far that might not be the case this year.

Thanks a bunch all...March it is. Absolutely have heard of the slides, but will probably steer clear, little too hairy for me.

Whiteface is great in early march.
Last two years have been just great. '05 had a several straight powder days and '06 had bluebird skies.

What? Leave Blue Mountain and Camelback to go ski in VT? Makes no sense to me... March is when Blue Mountain starts to give their "come back this season and ski for half off" tickets. Who can pass those up?
