The Iodine Wheelset set new standards for Crank Brothers in terms of stiffness and durability, not only for the rims but the hubs and spokes too. The rim, of course, was the first thing it looked at. Whereas previous rims featured a 21mm internal width, the latest version is 23mm wide. And while you'd think this would add weight, they were actually re-engineered so that they are lighter " the wheelset weighs in at around 1850grams. And while vertical compliance remains, lateral stiffness is increased. You get a wheel that handles well and tracks even better.
Staying true to the latest in mountain bike wheels, the Iodine 3s are tubeless compatible. This means that they may be used with or without a tube, as you prefer.
The Iodine 3s are compatible with virtually any axle system, from a standard quick-release to thru-axles with endcaps that are included with each pair. Hubs are Crank Brothers branded and are 6-bolt disc-brake compatible. The wheels also have an elongated nipple/shortened spoke (Sapim double-butted 2.0/1.8/2.0) interface that further increases wheel responsiveness and reduces weight. The elongated nipples also make truing the wheels a bit easier. While Crank Brothers features a 2 year warranty, its warranty rate is less than 1%, which makes it among the lowest in the industry.
