Nice piece on Crotched last week. One of the mountain reps was talking about the old Crotched East and said that he's not saying they're going to reopen it, but you never know what might happen. It's there. It was actually the biggest clue I've seen to date from an official Crotched person. I marked out for that comment.

Chris Bradford basically said the same thing before. Check out these, 2004 and 2006 AlpineZone challenges:

I highly doubt Crotched East would ever reopen, at least not 'in place' where it was. There are houses in some places, but even worse, I think Francestown would potentially be against it. They kinda got royally screwed when Crotched closed years back. But money talks. Personally, I'm still waiting for them to finally bring the lifts up to the peak, and actually get their vert to 1000+'. :-D

My 15 yr old and his buddy hiked up above the lift to poach powder Saturday night. I was torn between pride and caution when they told me.

On several occasions, Crotched has encouraged this. The only thing to be careful of is really the under the snow rocks on the trail that comes down next to the terrain park lift. It's pretty steep because there's a fairly decent rock face under the snow.

Ok thanks, but since he banned me from the NELSAP board years ago, I haven't exactly cared to follow him or trust him. So I never saw this. I've actually turned the channel when I've seen him on TV. :)
