i'm on LI too (locust valley, wife grew up in Manhasset)
my limit for a day trip is Stratton/Bromley/Magic area in VT, Hunter/Windam is a no brainer....I have stretched a K'ton day trip but thats pushin' it...

Not for a week now... There's nobody on it so there no load... Place is empty..
