The Thermal Racing Jacket is similar in almost every way to De Marchi's Thermal Racing Jersey. It's got the same race-worthy fit, so there's no extra material flapping about and slowing you down, and its body is almost entirely made of the same water-resistant, temperature-regulating Roubaix material. So the jacket really fits and insulates like a jersey.
The difference is the jacket's inclusion of wind-stopping panels in the form of De Marchi's proprietary ThermaShield Elastic material. ThermaShield is spread throughout at the jacket " but only at key spots. This lets it keep the wind out while still letting the Roubaix panels regulate your temperature. This keeps you warm, but not too warm.
Of course, anyone who's thrown down the gauntlet on a winter's ride knows that overheating can happen quickly, so both materials are breathable and wicking to prevent clammy moisture from building up in your microclimate.
