So I'm heading up to Sunday River for MLK weekend. I'm driving up from downtown Boston (normally driving from other location). Would be leaving after work on Friday, so any hints/suggestions, trying to have a painless drive up there.

Plan was to go 95 up then to 26 I believe, any other better routes?

Thanks all.

Not really. When I leave from boston I go that way. I'm at exit 28 off 93. If you were in portland there are some back road options, but if you are on 95 stay on it.

When I leave from my nh home I go 93 to 3 to 115 to 2.

Just a note out to anyone who's been to SR before but not in the past couple of years ...

They built a new road, 26A, to take you from I-95 to 26, bypassing the Grey local roads. You now want to take a left off I-95 northbound, drive over the highway, then turn right on 26A. This will eventually bear left onto 26 itself and continue north. Also, near the Shaker Village they built a bypass as well. You'll now stay on a nice 2-lane, 50mph road around the village instead of the narrow funnel through it.

On bad weather days big time. I would say 10 min normally skipping those lights and always being in the wrong lane no matter what lane you are in.

+1 It definitely helps big-time on the bad weather days. In fact, I'm not sure I've been on 26A yet in ski season in more than a few hundred foot visibility. :)
