Velonews.com is reporting that that at Le Tour de France "five teams clear blood tests on Tuesday morning. Riders from Bouyges Telecom, Francaise des Jeux, Phonak, Cofidis and Saunier Duval were subjected to blood tests this morning. All were clear with no abnormalities found."

0 out of 45-cyclists...based on that number, how many athletes do you think in MLB, NFL, NBA or the NHL would be detected using the Tour standards? How many employee’s at your place of work? How many people driving on the road?

I don't want to know how many while skiing....

I think it was David Letterman that said "In France - Lance Armstrongs blood is kept around longer then some wines"

Anybody I work with had to at least pass a drug test... What they do now... who knows...

We can be subjected to a random drug test any working day of the year. I've been to three so far in four years. They only test for controlled substances. Judging by the fitness of some of the employees, steroid testing would be a waste of money. :D

I'd have a problem working at a place that actually did drug testing. Not because I'd fail (normally), but because I don't think it's anyone's business what I do outside of work. If I came in stoned (or drunk, or whatever), yeah, then it's the company's business, or if I've been on a 4 day bender, and can't do anything at work or my recreational activities impacted my work, I can get on board with it being a problem. Otherwise, stay out of my personal life.

Than being said, I'm all for sports testing. True competition requires a level playing field, otherwise it's not really sports. I think the results of the Tour tests shows the mentality of bikers- one on one, mano a mano, true competition.

Our company does it for DOT and insurance reasons. If one of our truck drivers gets into an accident, he/she has to pee in a cup no more than 24 hours after the incident by law.

I do agree with you (in part) but it is comforting to know the Dept. of Transportation is trying to keep stoners and druggies from driving trucks.

I agree..I will not work for a firm that drug tests. I feel its an invasion of my privacy. Like mentioned..what I do I my own time is my business, unless it effects my daily work duties...BUTT OUT..
