Ergon BX2 2013 Backpack

BK.jpg

The 2013 BX2 builds on Ergon's minimalist BX1 by offering 180 more cubic inches of space that's expandable to a full 700 cubic inches. It also has a four-position back adjustment for a comfortable fit and more stability with heavier loads.
Like the BX1, the BX2 also has two available strap sizes and the Adaptive Carrier System, but the four levels of user defined adjustment is unique and allows finer tuning to various torso lengths. The innovative Adaptive Carrier System connects the shoulder straps to a hammock-like structure. This design cradles the load, and allows it to be brought as close as possible to the user, ensuring more stability than traditional backpacks.
The load, however, does not sit against your back as the BX2 uses an internal plastic between the lower pads for structure and support. The cushioning pads are specially designed with ventilation in mind by using a large open weave that allows air to flow. Additionally, the pads are laid out to create channels, to permit fast drying and to prevent irritation and discomfort. Furthering that goal, the BX2's shoulder straps are self-correcting, via D rings at the top, to automatically find the ideal angle and ensure a comfortable fit. Also there are two shoulder strap sizes available, small and large, for optimal fit and weight distribution.
The BX2 is designed to support heavier loads inside of the 'hammock' where its mass is centralized for excellent stability. There's a large external pocket that's perfect for a rain shell, and the BX2 includes a rain cover for the pack. Inside there's a place for a shock and tire pump, a multi-tool, and tire repair kits. The hip belt also has a mesh pocket for a phone, camera, or keys.
The BX2 does not come with a bladder, but it has a compartment and routing for one. The compartment is a large zipped opening for ease of use and can hold either the Ergon BH200 or BH300 bladder. The 2013 Ergon BX2 comes in four colors; Black, Green/Grey, Blue/Grey and Grey. The Small pack is intended for riders under five foot seven; the Large is for those taller than that.
