The balloon has touched down and it's empty. They're not sure if the child fell out or what. How sad.

I guess the family was on "Wife Swap" and the father is a science guy. They weather chase and the balloon was never intended to hold a person.

ETA: Latest update is that they don't think the boy was in the balloon; doesn't appear anyone was inside the compartment below. They're searching the neighborhood now thinking the boy is hiding.

The latest update is that they don't think he was on board at all. I guess it had a lightweight plywood floor (was meant for weather experiments) and it was not "breached"--whatever they mean by that. They're searching the neighborhood.

There is now a conflicting report that there was a box that was initially attached to the craft that was not attached anymore when it landed--and the brother claims his brother climbed into that box before it took off.

I cannot imagine how those parents must feel right now. My heart goes out to them.
