Have we done this yet? Don't think so......

OK - so we Deadheads can completely hijack AZ for a while, let's have your thoughts on your favorite Dead or Dead-related song. Dead, JGB, Phil & Friends, Ratdog, etc. - it's all good.

My list in no particular order:

Jack Straw - from Wichita was the first Dead song that really got my attention. I wore out a copy of Europe '72 in high school.

China Cat > I Know You Rider - the 2nd Dead song/jam that got me.

Sugar Mag - also from Europe 72 and lots of live shows.

The Other One - blew me away in Rochester 77 (DP #34). I had never even heard it before and they threw a ferocious one at us that night. Phil's bass was rocking the building and it left a smoking crater of my mind....

Dark Star - has to be on the list. So many possibilities, so little time....

I'll leave it at 5 for now. I could go on and on......
-Playing
-Unbroken Chain
-Mission in the Rain
-Half Step
etc
etc
etc

Safe
impossible for me to chose a favorite but some things i've heard live will never leave me.

Peggy O at highgate in 95
The Mighty Quinn at an albany show was unreal
I too love Althea but havent had the pleasure of catching it live
I have some bootlegs of JGB doing a cover of The Harder They Come and its just electric.

oh and Throwing Stones live with Bob going nuts is always a favorite.
Dire Wolf, Loser, Deal, New Speedway Boogie would all be up there for me too.

He's Gone
Dark Star

Covers are great too.
Hard to Handle (Late 60's)

Alabama Getaway

I heard a great Alabama Getaway into promised land (12/26/79, I think) on the radio this morning.

This thread is driving me nuts because I keep thinking of ones I forgot.

Eyes of the world is probably one of my favorites
They love each other ......

The west African style and the stretched out versions of UJB are more enjoyable these days than the old versions. IMO You boys need to quit you jobs grow your hair and go on tour. well sounds good. We don't need an wookies here.

I keep thinking of omissions as well. A beautiful Must have been the Roses is on the radio now.

Yes, Beano, They loved each other is on my list as well.

We had the dj play TLEO at our wedding reception in 89- it's right up there.

This could be on a different thread but how about post-Jerry releases.

I enjoy Mickey rapping "only the strange remain" and Ratdog's "Even So"

I like being one of "those old people" at the shows now!

Fond memory at a Phish show about 12 years ago in Portland. My buddy is sitting next to this cute 20 yr old gal who fit in the scene quite well.

She tells him "you're not a tour kid"
He smirks and points at me, "how about him?".
She: "he's not one either"

This was the same place I had seen The Grateful Dead many years before. It was beautiful moment.
