Fi'zi:k Antares K:IUM Saddle

BLA.jpg

The Fi'zi:k Antares K:IUM Saddle has been around for a few years now, and its shape provides the perfect compromise between Fi'zi:k's other 'A's' -- the Alliante and the Arione. It's as wide as the Aliante, and flat like the Arione, but it offers a wider, more padded nose for added comfort when you're in the drops or 'on the rivet.'
If you're familiar with Fi'zi:k's Spine Concept, you know that the Italian company urges you to consider your trunk flexibility when choosing one of its saddles. Fi'zi:k recommends the Antares for 'chameleons,' or in simpler terms, riders with a moderate amount of flexibility, who're active when riding seated. What does that mean? If you find yourself frequently changing position on the saddle to keep pressure on your sit bones, and off of your genital area, you're likely a chameleon that'll benefit from the Antares' neutral shape and strategic cushioning.
Another element that adds to the cush, the comfort, and the give of the Antares saddle is its carbon-reinforced nylon shell. The shell flexes gently across the entire span between the front and back ends where the rails meet the shell, rather than being stiff in some places and forgiving in others.
The Antares' K:IUM (pronounced 'Koom,' rhymes with zoom) rails represent an evolutionary step forward from titanium rails. They're 8% lighter, have greater a strength-to-weight ratio, and dampen more vibration. The damping is thanks to the Silicium, and the shiny look is thanks to the chrome content. Additionally, the chrome increases the rails' corrosion resistance, which aids in the saddle's overall durability.
The Fi'zi:k Antares K:IUM Saddle is available in the colors Black/gold and Cofidis White/red wings. The length of the Antares is 274mm, and the width is 142mm at its widest point. The saddle also features Fi'zi:k's Integrated Clip System (ICS), a means by which to attach a Fi'zi:k light or saddle bag directly, without the need for straps. The weight of the Antares K:ium saddle is around 175g.
